Abstract

In this research, the SOCIAL CONFORMITY of a group of WIDOWS (N=18) has been evaluated. This group of the WIDOWS was consisted of 18 women who had been selected out of a totality who had lost their husbands during ten years. The comparing (control) groups were:a: mothers whose children had been involved in accidents. Participants in this group were 17 women whose children had survived the event of the drowning (immersion) of "Jupiter" in 1988 . And b: a group of women who had not experienced any adverse and worthy-of-mention event throughout their lives (N =15). The SOCIAL CONFORMITY Scale (Wiseman & peacle, 1974) was one measuring device for this research. In evaluating the SOCIAL CONFORMITY, women whose children had overpasses the accidents displayed further problems in relation to SOCIAL CONFORMITY compared to those who had not experienced evil happenings in their lives. But regarding the whole evidence and criteria as well as the results of the Scale and through a final count, even the latter group's difficulties were far less than than those of the WIDOWS.
