Abstract

Internet and the other forms of information technology have brought fundamental changes to the relations between human beings. The consequence now is the formation of a new form of human relation which is distinct from the common patterns in the mass media. This has inherently provided new opportunities in issues related to IDENTITY. Since INTERNET has become a daily part of the lives of the people in the modern world, it would be worthwhile to better understand its function and patterns in the lives of the people of modern world. Therefore, the attempt in this article is to study the effects of INTERNET on cultural and social structures and also to study its consequences in the formation of new individual or collective identifies based on different theoretical approaches.
