Abstract

This study aimed at determining the IRON DEFICIENCY ANEMIA rate among the high-school male & female students of Ilam city. Screening method with CBC tests was used to examine the 1350 cases, picked up in a cluster randomized way, whose blood indexes were also analysed. Besides, one-month course of treatment with FERROUS SULFATE was applied to cure the diseases. The cell indexes; results of cell, serum iron (SI) and total capacity of contact with Iron (TIBC) implied that 8±.9 of all the students were suffering from IRON DEFICIENCY ANEMIA. The findings showed that, except for RBC & MCHC, there was a significant relation between the other cell indexes before and after the one-month treatment course, (P<0.0001). A significant relation was also seen between the indexes of iron serum and TIBC of the students, (P<0.0001) The Researchers came to the conclusion that performing a one-month method of oral treatment with FERROUS SULFATE can improve the students, blood indexes.
