Abstract

Purpose: MARITAL SATISFACTION may reduce during PREGNANCY due to the outbreak of some sexual problems. SEXUAL CONSULTATION with pregnant women may decrease the side effects of PREGNANCY. The present study is designed to investigate the effect of SEXUAL CONSULTATION on MARITAL SATISFACTION of pregnant women. Analysis Method: The present study, is a randomized clinical trial along with a control group, the participants were 80 pregnant women who went to medical centers of Malayer City. Forty women were in consultation group for four 45-90 minutes session and forty women were in control group .Sampling was done randomly. The questionnaires included demographic questionnaire and MARITAL SATISFACTION questionnaire (ENRICH) which had 47 questions. The statistical analysis of the data was done by using the SPSS 22 software. Findings: The mean of MARITAL SATISFACTION scores in the experimental group revealed significant differences between the week before and the two and four weeks after the consultation (P<0/001 and P<0/001 respectively). MARITAL SATISFACTION in control group also showed a significant change between the week before and two weeks after the consultation(p=0/034) but there wasn’t a significant difference between before and four weeks after the intervention(p=0.593). Conclusion: By providing SEXUAL CONSULTATION for partners, we can prepare them to deal and cope with PREGNANCY changes, and in this way prevent tension and argument during this period.
