Abstract

Background: A total of 76 rats including 4 black rat (Rattus RATTUS) & 72 brown rat (Rattus norvegicus) were captured from Kouzestan Province, Southern IRAN.Materials and Methods: In the study area Dung beetles were prevalent and residents were complaining about. These arthropods act as intermediate hosts for GONGYLONEMA species, and may cause infectivity in animaly, such as mose, rabbit, cat, cattle, and even accidentally humans.Results: In this study, the eosophagus and stomatch of rats were examined microscopically and three species of GONGYLONEMA including G.pulchrum, G.neoplasticum, and G.monigy were found and their morphological charactery were described.Conclusions: The occurrence of these nematodes in rats is health treatening for human and domestic animals.
