Abstract

 Purpose: The aim of this study was to predict Depression based on Early maladaptive schemas and Resilience by considering the mediating role of self-compassion in cancer patients. Materials and Methods: The research method was descriptive correlation. The statistical population in this study included all cancer patients referred to the Cancer Institute of Imam Khomeini and Milad Hospitals in Tehran. The sample size was 300 cancer patients who were selected based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria of the study and by available sampling method. The research instruments included the Nef Self-Compassion Questionnaire (2003), the Young Young Early maladaptive schemas Questionnaire (1998), the Connor-Davidson Resilience Questionnaire (2005), and the Beck Depression Inventory (1961). The collected data were analyzed by structural equation modeling and Amos software. Findings: The results of data analysis showed that the prediction model of Depression based on initial maladaptive schemas and Resilience, considering the mediating role of Selfcompassion based on experimental data, has a good fit. Conclusion: Also, the direct and indirect effects of Early maladaptive schemas and Resilience were confirmed by considering the mediating role of self-compassion and hope in Depression in cancer patients (p <0. 05).
