Efficient scheduling and using container equipment have been extensively studied by executive managers and researchers from long time ago. One of the important goals of efficient scheduling is minimization of total waiting time, so that the optimum efficiency can be yield. Here, regarding the benefits of Genetic Algorithm (GA), GA is used to solve the yard crane scheduling problem.

Abstract: 

Given the performance of Shahid Rajaee Port in 2009 and handling more than 66.4 tons of cargo and due to "stop time" and "delay time" of trucks, and regarding economic analysis of problems caused by increasing port throughput and capacity as well as increased port traffic, it could be seen that "travel time", "delay time", and "running time" is beyond the standard.According to field studies have done by Shahid Rajaee Port, there are various factors that influence needed for stops, delays, loading, unloading, and etc. Operators and Drivers also have no control on these factors. Such issues could be measured through submitting the bill of delay or stop time.In addition, in operational areas of this port, it could be seen that traffic volume and related interfaces have little impact on these delays and traffic usually flows in interchange crossings, railway crossings, train maneuvers, and parking maneuvers. In this article, travel time data is used to estimate time savings.

Abstract: 

Given Shahid Rajaee Port tendency to become a regional hub port, it is necessary to define effectiveness indexes and maximize them in an international level. Therefore, achieving a desired level of global effectiveness indexes requires overall growth and development of factors which influence port operations. The objective of this article is to evaluate one of the most important factors that influence previously- mentioned indexes and its impact on port performance; this factor is known as traffic resulted from truck stops. This study is a descriptive study. Data used in this article is gathered via 276 checklists filled by port staff. Data used in this article has obtained from non-container import cargos in terminal A and B.Using statistical methods, this study has found out that in most cases (90 percent of cases), the total time of truck stops is about 11 hours. Effective factors have evaluated using regression model. These factor that listed based on their importance include loading time, wasted time due to the absence of cargo owner's agent, wasted time due to failure in the network, debt, and time consumed for equipment allocation. It should also be noted that impact of cargo type and terminals are not significant. Finally, regarding statistical analysis used to present operational and strategic solutions to solve traffic problem of the port as well as other factors and strategies fitted with growth and development of transportation sector, this article tries to present an approach for optimum servicing to customers and cargo owners via providing smooth and regulated traffic flow.

Abstract: 

To minimize the total time spend for servicing the ships, this article tries to assess berth allocation in form of Mixed-Integer Non-Linear Programming Model. Further, to validate the proposed model, this article has used outputs of Imai model. Results of the study illustrate that due to the low number of non-linear variable in proposed model in compare with Imai model, achieving the model output take a shorter time using proposed model instead of Imai model.

Abstract: 

Nanotechnology plays an important role in various sectors of maritime industry and its upstream and downstream industries as well as marine environment protection. Some of the nanotechnology usages in shipping industries, offshore industries, and coastal and port industries include providing appropriate cover ages which are resistance against marine environmental impacts, producing new materials for constructing the hull of vessels and increasing of its strength, producing new materials for improving performance of the vessel (e.g., new fuels, new batteries with high energy storage capacity, and fuel cells), and producing new materials to clean up marine pollution. In addition, all developments in computer, electronic, and communication technologies happen take place using nanotechnology will certainly affect marine industries; due to using electronic and computer devices in vessels and all other maritime equipments, marine industries-like any other industry - is very dependent on these technologies. Using nanotechnology results in cost, time, and energy savings as well as prevention and elimination of marine pollution and finally will result in development of maritime industries. Nanotechnology is an environment-friendly technology and it is obvious that its applications will be significantly increased. This article tries to explain nanotechnology applications and its benefits for various sectors of maritime industries.

Abstract: 

In this article, some of reasons for establishing dedicated terminal containers (DCT) are explained. Using a simple queuing model, the most important reason for establishing a DCT is assessed and it is approved that both transportation company that has exclusive privilege of using facilities and the port that servicing it are beneficiary. At the same time, this model implies that possible losses are essentially caused by transportation companies which can use only some of the berths and quays. This article represent that these losses will be increased if direct or indirect external outcomes exist and DCT can act as a facilitator in maritime industry communication network. Finally, this study develops a hypothetical pricing method (effective pricing details) that can be used to making internal these external outcomes.
