Abstract: 

Introduction: One of the requirements of modern organizations is attention to learning organization. This study aims to evaluate Medicine School of Hamadan University of Medical Sciences as ‘learning organization’ according to Wick and Leon factors.Methods: In this cross sectional study, all faculty members of Medicine School of Hamadan University of Medical Sciences were studied. The sample size included 81 faculty members that selected form census.Data was collected using a valid and reliable questionnaire (Cronbach’s alpha 0.932). Statistics and t-test was used for data analysis and data analysis software SPSS version 17 was used.Results: According to the interviewees, Medicine School of Hamadan University of Medical Sciences is not a real learning organization. In all the five factors such as Leadership, Assessment / Program, Information, Innovation and Implementation the difference between the existing and desired situation was meaningful.Conclusion: To be a learning organization implementation of programs such as creative thinking, participation in decision making and critical appraisal of teaching curriculums are essential.

Abstract: 

Background: Nursing students experience closely the challenges of being professional nurses during their education. This study aims to explain the nursing students’ perception of professional challenges in Fatemeh Nursing and Midwifery School in Firozabad in 2012 Methods: In this qualitative study 15 nursing students were selected by purposeful sampling. They participated in two focus groups and 10 in- depth semi- structured interviews. The interviews were recorded and transcribed verbatim. Thematic analysis was performed to analyze data in three stages.Results: The findings were categorized into four themes and 11 subthemes. The main themes were: challenging education, nonstandard care, inappropriate social- professional identity, and not being a researcher.Conclusion: The viewpoints of nursing students encompass all aspects of their future profession. These experiences can be used to reduce the students’ perceived challenges.

Abstract: 

Introduction: The gap between what is taught in the classroom and at the bedside to provide services is a major problem in training of nursing and midwifery students. This study aims to investigate the views of nursing and midwifery personnel in relation to the clinical application of nursing and midwifery courses.Methods: This cross-sectional study investigated all nursing and midwifery staff employed by the government hospital in Yazd city with work experience of 6 months to 5 years. The data collection tools was a questionnaire consisted of two parts; demographics data and viewpoints of clinical application of training courses.Results: Principles and skills of nursing (97.0±95.3), intensive care nursing (1.05±3.80), medical and surgical nursing 3 and 4 gained the highest score and community health gained the lowest score. The highest mean scores in midwifery were related to obstetrics and maternal and child nutrition and Anesthetics gained the lowest score Conclusions: Coordination between theoretical learning and clinical nursing and midwifery services should be improved. Decision makers should consider these findings to improve the quality of low score courses.

Abstract: 

Introduction: Library is one of the essential elements of universities which provide some important educational needs of students. Virtual education cannot be exempted and virtual libraries are important support for virtual training programs. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the viewpoint of administrators and students in virtual education centers about the virtual library, its role and resources.Methods: This study was a descriptive survey. The research instrument was a researcher made questionnaire that its validity and reliability was confirmed. The study population consisted of 19 virtual training centers in Tehran city. Out of 19 centers, simple randomized sampling was done in five Centers. The sample size was 360 students. Data collection was conducted online and descriptive statistics using SPSS 18 and Excel software were used.Results: The results showed that viewpoints of administrators and students about the mission and services of virtual libraries in some cases were similar and in some cases were different. One of the administrators’ reasons for setting up a virtual learning system was lifelong learning, and lack of knowledge about virtual libraries was the reason for inadequate use of virtual libraries. The best format of virtual library from the administrators’ and students’ viewpoint, was portal document format (PDF).Conclusion: One of the most important function of a virtual library, is lifelong learning and empowering users to provide information and educational needs. The main reason for not setting up a virtual library is t lack of knowledge about it.

Abstract: 

Introduction: Schema therapy is an important treatment method for cognitive disorders. This study aimed to examine the effect of education schema therapy in reducing symptoms of anxiety and depression in nursing and midwifery students.Methods: In this pre-test, post-test study, all nursing and midwifery students who referred to counseling center of Islamic Azad University–Mashhad Branch were assessed. Forty students with anxiety and depression were randomly assigned to two groups (n=20 each) included schema therapy and control groups.The experimental group educated 10 sessions of 70 minutes by schema therapy method. Both groups completed the Cattel anxiety and Beck depression questionnaires as pre-test, post-test and after two months of follow-up. Data was analyzed using multivariate analysis of covariance (MONCOVA) method.Results: of anxiety and depression of the intervention group was significantly decrease compare to the control group in post-test and after two months of follow-up (P<0.05).Conclusion: schema therapy is an effective method to reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression in nursing and midwifery students. Counselors and therapist can use schema therapy to reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression disorder.

Abstract: 

Introduction: Food hygiene Is one of the main courses offered by schools of public health. The purpose of this study was to investigate under graduate students’ view point about food hygiene course thought in the School of Public Health of Shahid Sadoughi University of Medical Sciences.Methods: In this cross-sectional study, One hundred thirty students who enrolled in the food hygiene course, participated. The questionnaire consisted of five parts including: demographics, educational planning, educational facilities, food hygiene course topics and effectiveness in improving student’s knowledge Data were analyzed by SPSS software V.18.Results: of the participants expressed their high priority for practical units of this course (3.79±1.06) and their wants for visiting centers of food production and distribution have to improve their learning (4.51±0.83). Also use of instructional videos found very effective (4.36±0.79). Students agreed to change some parts of the curriculum with new topics and stated that this course will be highly effective in their future professional competency (4.03±0.95).Conclusion: According to the results, general revision of this course and adding practical units to it, will address their needs and improve their professional competency.

Abstract: 

Introduction: Parallel with the rapid advancements in information and communication technology (ICT) and evolving learner behaviors, language teaching and learning discipline looks to from the application of these developments for learning and teaching English as a lingua franca (ELF). However, acquisition of ELF is deemed to be a demanding experience affecting learners both psychologically and socially, among others. With the goal of developing novel practice episodes in L2 English writing classrooms, the present study adapted an m-game-mediated blended module of L2 learning.Methods: Eighty four female and male medical students from Ahvaz Jundishapur University of Medical Sciences were purposefully selected to learn L2 writing through the blended module in 42 dyads during the second semester of 2014-2015 academic year. To adopt a triangulation research design, data were collected using three major instruments, namely attitude questionnaire, formative assessment and interview.Results: In the first and third practice episodes, entertainment for the most part, took precedence over the intended instructional content and subject matter. But, when the materials were fed into the native gaming scene participants did pay more attention to the intended content. In effect, the amount of learners' familiarity with the practicing contexts shaped their conceptual schemata and also flourished their creativity.Conclusion: In the nutshell, moderating unfamiliarity of the practicing context bails learners out from becoming overwhelmed by cognitive overload. However, unwarranted moderation in learning setting, in turn, nips the conditions that stifle learners' creativity in the bud; thus resulting in their underperformance.

Abstract: 

Introduction: There is more need for pharmacy managers’ development regarding pharmaceutical care after Heath Reform Project. In this study, we designed, delivered and evaluated a virtual one-year short course \of pharmaceutical care for pharmacy managers.Methods: We interviewed with five hospital pharmacy managers for educational need assessment. Then we developed the curriculum and performed a systematic instructional design for its blended delivery. Faculty members participated in a three-day workshop and then developed their course plans, multimedia e-contents and completed their assessment (courses’ panels) in the university Learning Management System.We delivered the one-year MBA in three modules. At the end of each module, participants evaluated the courses via a researcher-made questionnaire.Results: In total, 38 pharmacy managers participated in the course. Ten participants (26%) left the study and 28 participants succeeded to pass the final written exam with the overall score of 18.0.20 (±0.45). The participants found the program useful for their career.Conclusion: Considering the participants’ feedback, We recommend this virtual pharmaceutical care are program for hospital pharmacy managers.
