Abstract:

Teaching communication skills, responsibility, honesty, self-awareness and critical thinking are the main indicators of learning in all modern student-centered methods. The aim of present study was to determine the effect of CBL (Context Base Learning) and traditional learning on the behavior, attitude, learning and critical thinking changes of B. Sc.-nursing students at Shahrekord Medical University in 1393. This was a Quasi-experimental research with pre-post test of control group. Samples were the seniors of nursing students, and they were divided into two groups randomly (Traditional and CBL). Students of each group completed two questionnaires before and after intervention, one questionnaire for evaluation of behavior and the other was for evaluation of attitude. Finally, these two points and learning points of students were compared to each other. Data belonged to CBL group showed mean scores of behavior, critical thinking and attitude increased after intervention while the meaningful relation, in this regard, was not observed within traditional group; although, the mean point of learning in both CBL and traditional groups increased on comparison with their behavior before intervention and this was statistically meaningful. In conclusion, application of CBL rather than traditional method may increase respect, self-awareness, self-evaluation, communication skills, and responsibility as well as motivation; furthermore, it leads to improve learning, applying theory to clinical practice and to enhance patient care.

Abstract:

Future is one of the primary concerns combined with adults' goals, hopes and fears. Nowadays with Industrialization of societies, young adults' marriage and vocational future is postponed. Hence, the purpose of the present study was to examine indirect effect of perceived parenting styles on future orientation among medical students with mediating role of identity styles. This study was a causal model with the aim of discovering causal relationship between variables. Then, 386 sample (200 male, 186 female) of 5th to 7th-year students of Iran Medical Sciences University were selected randomly; they fill in Berzunskey Identity Styles questionnaire, Prospective Life course inventory and Father-Mother-Peer Inventory. In order to testing research models and hypothesis and determining causal relationships between variables, path analysis method was used applying Lisrel software. Furthermore, statistical analysis showed significant relationship between mediating role of informative identity style in the effect of mother's autonomy and father's acceptance on behavioral (0/27, 0/25), cognitive (0/21, 0/10), motivational (0/36, 0/0/32) components of future orientation. Moreover, the result showed that just perceived parenting style of mother (autonomy, acceptance) between perceptions of parenting styles can predict informative identity style and behavioral component of future orientation. These two dimensions have strong relationship with informative identity style; in other words, the young adult whose mother has more autonomy and less acceptance parenting style can use more informative style. The explanation of this finding indicates that participating in decision making would direct young adults to appropriate choices.

Today's competitive environment and the development of science and technology has made the use of e-learning inevitable in human society. In the last decade, according to some challenges such as Increased demand for higher education, Inadequacy of funds, Inadequacy of full-time faculty and lack of geographical limitations put e-learning and teaching up in center of full consideration. Currently, the traditional methods of training are not able to respond to the educational needs of lifelong learners. Hence, this study was conducted with the aim of investigating factors affecting the development of e-learning from the perspective of students. . With regard to the number of faculties at Golestan University of Medical Sciences in the year 1392, a total amount of 170 students were selected by stratified random sampling method., Data gathering tool was a questionnaire consisted of two parts. The first part was demographic information and the second part was Standardized questionnaire from Enayati et al. After coding and entering data into Spss16, descriptive and inferential statistics such as the mean and the associated t-test and ANOVA were used. Results obtained from the students’ viewpoints suggested that factors examined in the study influenced the development of e-learning, and based on their order of priority included respectively: infrastructure hardware and software, Social Communications and Collaboration Technologies, content of teaching and provisions of learning, method of assessing learners, Educational fields, and finally the attraction of students. In addition, examining the role of effective factors in the study divided bygender, education, and Faculty had no significant relevance (p value>. /05). According to the results of the data analysis, therefore, it may indicate that all the factors examined at the University had an impact on e-learning. Moreover, hardware and software among these factors in frastructure were the most important ones in the field of e-learning.

Abstract:

Following the increasing development in information technology, the traditional methods of teaching cannot meet the staffs' teaching demands and the educational needs of today's organizations. This study was an observational study with a cross-sectional design conducted in October 2014 to investigate satisfaction of in-service training e-courses among employees at Ahvaz Jundishapour University of Medical Sciences and Health Services(AJUMS); three categories named satisfaction of content, presentation and e-learning programs. The studied population consisted out of 1052 members included official, contract and conditioned contract staff, and a sample of 211 were selected by easy randomized. Data collection was performed through a standardized questionnaire based on Likert scale; Reliability and validity of the questionnaire were reassessed; then, data analysis was done using descriptive statistics, frequency, mode, mean, standard deviation, ANOVA, and independent t-test using statistical software SPSS 21. The highest amount of satisfaction obtained regarding to e-learning program was 4. 17 average (of 5 scores) and %80. 65 agreed; while the lowest belonged tothe content satisfaction with 3. 76 average and %69. 43 agreed. Background variables such as work experience, type of employment, and education and gender didn’ t have any impact on the employees' satisfaction from participating in e-learning courses. Therefore, due to the considerable satisfaction of the employees from the e-courses, it seems necessary to consider serious planning for the appropriate structure and full implementation of this approach to learning.

Abstract:

Critical thinking skills are ultimate goal of medical education and students who think critically lessen wrong judgment and conclusions concerning the theory and try to focus on topics relevant to clinical areas. This can also reduce the gap between theoretical instruction and clinical practice. Therefore, the aim of this prospective study was to compare the critical thinking skills of undergraduate nursing students at Borojen nursing faculty (n=60); data collection was performed using demographic and California critical thinking questionnaires. Then, information was analyzed by spss16 software, using descriptive and chi-square test, ANOVA and Pearson correlation coefficients. Consequently, the results pointed to the average total score of critical thinking 8/883 ± 4/075; the lowest score belonged to the second-semester students (8. 166 ± 4/589), and conversely the highest score observed in the eighth-semester students (9/769 ± 3/419) which was statistically meaningful (p<0. 05). In addition, deductive reasoning between subtypes of critical thinking was found at higher average (4. 766± 2. 011). Although, critical thinking was considered as an indispensable part of the nursing profession, the results showed the weakness of this skill between nursing students. According to the lack of substantial increase in the level of critical thinking skills of senior students, therefore, this may reflect a general lack of critical thinking in educational programs.
