Background & Aim: Moral intelligence is one of the dimensions of intelligence that can provide a framework for the correct functioning of humans and is theoretically considered as a predictor of behavior. The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between moral intelligence and demographic characteristics of nurses working in intensive care units. Materials & Methods: The present study is a descriptive-correlational one conducted in 2009. The study population included 112 nurses working in the ICU wards of public hospitals in Amol city who were selected by census method. For data collection, demographic information form and standard moral intelligence questionnaire were used. Analysis was done using SPSS version 19 software and descriptive and analytical statistics, calculation of mean, standard deviation, Pearson correlation test, and Independent T-test were performed. Results: The results showed that the mean score of moral intelligence in the nurses working in ICU was 80. 20±, 7. 40 and very good. The highest score was related to the honesty and the lowest score was related to the compassion. The results of the Pearson’, s correlation test showed that there was a positive and significant relationship between the general score of moral intelligence and the variables of marital status (P=0. 03), age (P=0. 02), work experience (P=0. 02), and work experience in the ICU (P=0. 02). There was also a positive and significant relationship between honesty, responsibility, and compassion with the variables of age, marital status, and work experience in the ICU. There was also an inverse relationship between the overtime hours and the dimensions of the moral intelligence questionnaire. There was not a significant relationship between the overall score of moral intelligence with gender and with participation in the ethics seminar. On average, married people had higher responsibility, forgiveness, and moral intelligence than single people. Conclusion: Considering the particular conditions of the special care units and the necessity of the presence of capable nurses in these units, it is superlative that married nurses with older age, higher work experience, and more work experience work in these units. It is also the responsibility of the managers and planners of the treatment units to reduce the working hours of the nurses working in these units and to carry out a correct assessment of needs before holding in-service training programs to help improve the moral intelligence of these nurses.

Background & Aims: Making skin-to-skin contact between mother and baby immediately after birth and starting breastfeeding within the first hour of birth is the fourth step of the ten steps of the BabyFriendly Hospital Initiative (BFHI). However, this step is still not properly done in Iran. This study was designed with the aim of analyzing the factors preventing skin-to-skin contact in the first hour of life in healthy term infants. Materials & Methods: This research is a qualitative study with a content analysis approach. Data were collected by in-depth and semi-structural interviews using open-ended questions. Sampling was done in a purpose-based manner and continued until data saturation was reached. In total, we interviewed 27 experts, managers, and personnel of maternity service providers. Results: A total of 824 codes were extracted from the interviews, which were compared based on content affinity and then organized into 7 themes, 19 categories, and 75 subcategories. After qualitative data analysis, the themes were compared based on the four components of Walt and Gilson's policy triangle in four categories of creators, content, background, and process and included in them. We categorized instruction challenges as part of the content barriers within the topic, deficiencies of knowledge and awareness, skills, and the nature of the platform for conducting the contact process as part of the process barriers two topics, the challenge of supervision and monitoring at all levels of the system as well as the effective environmental components in the implementation of the contact program as part of the structural obstacles two topics, and finally the topic of the effective actors including the beneficiaries and their subordinates as part of obstacles related to the actors. Conclusion: Maternity ward staff face serious obstacles to skin-to-skin contact in the first hour of birth, especially in receiving continuous and sufficient training, having the necessary motivation and support from managers, and establishing modern supervision and reward system for optimal skin-to-skin contact in the first hour of birth.

Background & Aims: Today, with increasing competition, health centers are taking steps towards client satisfaction with a tendency to strategic and systematic actions. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of nurses' performance on client satisfaction in private hospitals of Tehran province, Iran, and ranking their performance indicators. Materials and Methods: This descriptive-survey study was performed along the summer of 2021 in all the private hospitals in Tehran. The opinions of 384 patients referred to the private hospitals and 15 expert nurses were collected in Buyukozkan et al. (2011) questionnaire and paired comparison tables, and were used as the basis for analysis. In this study, we used confirmatory factor analysis to classify the performance indicators of nurses on the satisfaction of the clients and the combined approach of analytical network process to rank performance indicators. We also used Dimatel to investigate the cause-effect relationships of the satisfaction criteria of the clients. Results: Five performance indicators including tangible factors, responsiveness, reliability, assurance, and empathy on client satisfaction were examined. Perceived quality criterion had the highest impact and importance among client satisfaction criteria (0. 995). Reliability (0. 431), responsiveness (0. 160), Assurance (0. 148), empathy (0. 131), and tangible factors (0. 128) were placed in the next ranks, respectively. Conclusion: Despite the similarities and differences between the opinions of expert nurses and clients, managers and nursing supervisors of private hospitals should pay attention to both sources of information (experts and clients) in making decisions about improving clients' satisfaction from the services of these centers, and by using the obtained priorities, they also should plan to strengthen and correct the irregularities.

Abstract:

Background & Aims: Fears of childbirth during the Covid-19 crisis and disruption in safe maternal care may be exacerbated. The aim of this study was to assess the prevalence of fear of childbirth in the Covid-19 crisis and its predictors in pregnant women. Material & Methods: The cross-sectional study was done on 330 referred to pregnancy clinics affiliated to Babol University of Medical Sciences in the Covid-19 crisis, from May to November 2021. The Hartmann questionnaire was used to assess the fear of childbirth. The mean score of the Hartmann questionnaire, 28, was considered as the fear of childbirth. The studied variables were compared in two groups of women with fear and without fear of childbirth. Results: The age range of the pregnant women was 18-45 years. The mean score of fear of childbirth in women was 35. 95 ±,9. 44 in the range of 14-56. 82. 7% of the women were in the group with fear of childbirth. In the final analysis with logistic regression model, only the tendency to delivery type remained as a significant factor in the model,in other words, the odds ratio of the tendency to vaginal delivery in women with fear of childbirth was about 73% lower than women without fear of childbirth (B = 0. 273, PV = 0. 015, CI = 0. 096-0. 774). Conclusion: Findings of the study indicate an increase in the frequency of fear of childbirth in the Covid-19 crisis. Also, the fear of childbirth was significantly related to the decrease in desire for natural childbirth. According to its negative effects on maternal and infant health, this issue should be considered by the health promotion policy-makers and health-care providers.
