Introduction: Nurses are the main force in health services and the level of nursing education is closely related to access and quality of care. This study was conducted with the aim of a comparative comparison of undergraduate nursing education programs in the United Arab Emirates and Iran. Methods: A descriptive-comparative applied study based on the Brady model has been conducted to compare the structure of the UAE nursing education curriculum with Iran. Results: In the UAE education system, there are advantages such as placing a valid English language degree as a criterion for admission in the field of nursing for all students, admitting students by the interview in addition to the entrance exam and considering equivalent courses, paying attention to ethics-related courses and innovation and leadership, paying attention to familiarity with different cultures in the UAE, teaching some basic science courses in a combined way and using the latest technologies in the world such as virtual patient are important. Among the problems of UAE nursing are the lack of scientific resources in Arabic, the lack of native nurses to perform culture-based nursing, the shortage of male nurses, and cultural restrictions on encouraging female students to study nursing. The advantages of the Iranian curriculum also include a complete and clear mention of all the elements of the curriculum, and the early presence of students in the clinic for internship units, usually from the second semester. Conclusions: Some the strengths of the UAE education system such as paying attention to familiarity with different cultures, teaching some basic science courses in a combined way, and using the latest technologies in the world such as virtual disease to improve the level of education and establish a proper connection between clinic and theory can to be used as a model for our country's education system.

Abstract:

Introduction: Patient hospitalization in the intensive care unit puts families in a whirlpool of emotional stress. Due to the importance of nurses in addressing the needs and worries of this family, this study investigates the relationship between the family’, s perception of the roles of nurses with satisfaction and worries in intensive care units. Methods: This is a cross-sectional (descriptive-analytical) study. The study samples include all the families of adult patients hospitalized in the intensive care unit of Gonbad city hospitals (2020-2021), of which 140 people, who were included in the study using convenience sampling method. Data collection tools included questionnaires of family members' perception of the role of intensive care unit nurses, worry questionnaire and family satisfaction questionnaire of patients admitted to the intensive care unit. Data were analyzed using independent t-statistics, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient and linear regression coefficient using SPSS version 22. A significance level of 0. 05 was considered. Results: Among the families, 75% with a mean and standard deviation of 3. 04 ±,1. 11 had the most perception of the role of nurses. The mean and standard deviation of family satisfaction was 73. 98±, 20. 87. Family perception of the role of nurses towards them showed a weak positive and significant correlation with satisfaction (P=0. 002, r=0. 250). Also, worry could not explain the family's perception of the role of nurses. Conclusions: The results of this research show that the family's perception of the role of nurses has a weak correlation with their satisfaction and concern. How the nurses themselves understand their roles towards the family should be investigated in future research.
