Introduction: Military nursing students are routinely exposed to situations that experience negative emotions. Emotion Regulation training is one of the interventions that may affect emotion regulation strategies. Objective: The present study aimed to evaluate the effect of Emotion Regulation training on reappraisal and suppression strategies in Military Nursing Students. Material and Methods: The present study is quasi-experimental using pre and postexam designs administered to the control group. The study population consists of all nursing undergraduate students studying during the academic year 2017-2018 in one of the military-medical sciences universities. Based on inclusion criteria, 110 individuals were selected through classification by drawing a random sample without replacement; they were allocated randomly to the control and experimental group (55 individuals in each group). The samples of these groups were homogenous demographically. First, the control group included in study to prevent information pollution. The pre-test was performed by questionnaire of Emotion regulation (ERQ). Control participants were provided with a secondary questionnaire following four weeks after filling the primary questionnaire out. The experimental group participated in an 8-training session (60 min) at the end of the training, the post-test was performed. Data were analyzed by Chi-Square, Fisher’ s exact test, paired t-test, and independent t-test using SPSS 16. Results: Results suggest that emotion regulation training results in significant statistical changes in reappraisal and suppression strategies (P<0. 005), but there is no difference between changing emotional regulation strategies in two groups (P>0. 05). Discussion and Conclusion: The results validate the positive effect of emotion regulation training on increasing adaptive strategies and decreasing maladaptive strategies.

Introduction: The importance of the Air Force’ s ability to protect and defend any country is obvious. The well-performed air force depends on the capabilities, mental and physical health of staff. Family as an environmental factor plays a significant role in the development and maintenance of mental health disorders. Objective: This study aimed to investigate the relationship between family function and stress, anxiety and depression in Isfahan Air Force pilots during 2019-2020. Materials and Methods: In this descriptive study, 120 military air force pilots completed the standard family functioning (FAD), anxiety, stress and depression (DASS) questionnaires. After excluding invalid questionnaires, data were collected from 103 individuals and analyzed in SPSS20. The significant level is considered 0. 05. Results: Linear regression analysis showed that the family function was scored 0. 16, 0. 05 and 0. 05 in in depression, anxiety and stress, respectively. The family function was a significant predictor of depression, anxiety and stress in participants. The results showed that based on beta coefficients, each 0. 25, 0. 24 and 0. 24 change in family performance score resulted in a significant change in participants’ depression, anxiety and stress scores, respectively (P <0. 05). Discussion and Conclusion: Based on results of this study, it can be concluded that decreasing family function increases anxiety, depression and stress in pilots. Therefore military families should be considred.

Abstract:

Introduction: After performing femoral angiography to prevent the occurrence of vascular complications due to femoral incision, patients should rest in bed for about 24 hours. Restriction of movement after coronary angiography causes some discomfort in patients. It seems that changing patients’ status can affect feeling comfort in them. Objective: The effectiveness of different methods for changing the position patient’ s comfort following the removal of the sheet after femoral angiography has been compared. Materials and Methods: In this randomized clinical trial study, 72 patients with coronary artery disease under cardiac catheterization who were eligible to include in the study were selected with conscious and targeted consent, then randomly assigned to intervention and allocation control groups. In the intervention group, from the first hour after the intervention, the angle of the bed gradually extended to 45 degrees in the fourth hour. Then, comfort was assessed through a visual analog scale in both groups. Data were analyzed using SPSS 22 through descriptive statistics (indices of central tendency and dispersion) and analytical statistics (Chi-square, independent t-test and analysis of variance of repeated measures). The significance level was considered 0. 05. Results: There was no significant difference between the comfort of the intervention and control groups before the intervention (P= 0. 057), but from the second to the sixth hour after the intervention, the comfort of the patients in the intervention group was significantly higher than that in the control scores (P<0/001). Variation analysis of repeated measurements showed that patients’ comfort in the intervention group increased significantly in the second hour until the end of the study (P= 0. 04). In the control group, patients’ comfort level was almost constant (P= 0. 2) and this trend was not statistically significant. Discussion and Conclusion: Patients undergoing different resting methods with a change in bed angle of 15 to 45 degrees in the range of 4 to 6 hours after angiography can be discharged from the hospital faster and feel more comfortable after angiography.

Abstract:

Introduction: Loss of life meaning, hopelessness and pessimism, can be the cause of many problems dialysis patients facing. Objective: Considering the importance of self-efficacy role in self-care, this study aimed to investigate the hope and self-efficacy of hemodialysis patients. Material and Methods: The present study is a descriptive-analytical study performed on 100 patients. Demographic questionnaires, Snyder Hope Questionnaire and Sherer Self-efficacy Questionnaire were used in this study. After data collection, the data were analyzed by SPSS 23. Significance was considered 0. 05 Results: In this study, 52 males and 48 females were included. The mean and standard deviation of age were 51 and 9. 51, respectively; 17% of them were single and 81% were married and 2% were widowed. The results showed that the mean score and standard deviation of hope for patients were 37. 84 and 0. 73, and of selfefficacy were 50. 76 and 2. 76, respectively. Given that the low score on the Snyder Hope tool indicates lower hope, of the score of hope in = hemodialysis patients was considered low and the self-efficacy score was moderate. There was a significant relationship between self-efficacy and patients’ hope, ie, self-efficacy increases as hope increases (P= 0. 00). Discussion and Conclusion: Based on results of this study, patients undergoing hemodialysis have a low mean score of self-efficacy and low hope, so the researchers propose strategies for accurate and holistic evaluation of these patients by nurses.

Abstract:

Introduction: Toxoplasma gondii is an obligate intracellular parasite, which causes toxoplasmosis in humans and many warm-blooded vertebrates. Objective: The present study aimed to determine the prevalence of T. gondii in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and control individuals in the southwest of Iran. Materials and Methods: In this case-control study, 80 patients with T2DM and 100 healthy individuals referred to Taleghani hospital in Abadan city during the winter season. Anti-T. gondii IgG antibody was measured in sera of participants using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). A questionnaire containing some demographic information and risk factors related to T. gondii infection was completed by each participant. Results were analyzed using SPSS software 20. P<0. 05 were considered as statistically significant. Results: About 72. 5% of patients with T2DM and 29% of healthy subjects were found to be positive for IgG antibody. The difference was statistically significant (P<0. 001). Among the risk factors, contact with cats in both cases (P<0. 001) and control groups (P=0. 045) and source of drinking water in the control group (P=0. 048) were significantly associated with T. gondii infection. No significant association was observed between age, gender, place of residence, educational level and consuming raw or undercooked meat with T. gondii (P>0. 05). Discussion and Conclusion: Considering the high prevalence of T. gondii in patients with T2DM compared to healthy individuals, more attention should be paid to this high-risk group. It is suggested that these patients routinely be tested for this parasite.

Abstract:

Introduction: Natural or human-made disasters are the main reasons for hospital evacuation. Health officials must pre-plan hospital programs for complete or partial evacuation and establish an optimal management structure for the area of operation. In the present study, we outlined some points for dealing with the possibility of hospital discharge. Despite the high risk of the evacuation of intensive care units in crises, service providers in these wards unfortunately do not receive adequate training on the safe and effective evacuation of intensive care units. Objective: The present study aimed to determine the extent of readiness of hospitals to evacuate and transfer patients hospitalized in the intensive care unit in accidents and disasters. Materials and Methods: In the present review study conducted in 2019, a protocol for evacuating patients in the intensive care unit during disasters has been studied. PubMed and Scopus databases were reviewed. For this purpose, the keywords Disaster, Evacuation, and Intensive Care Unit were used. Then, databases were searched with the help of keywords. Results: In the present study, fifteen steps have been considered for before, during, and after the evacuation of an intensive care unit during disasters. These steps are introduced as a protocol according to the papers reviewed. Discussion and Conclusion: While patients are at risk, the hospital manager often decides on how evacuate facilities for protecting patients and staff. Hospital evacuation had a dramatic effect on staff, family members, the community, and even the country, as well as the consequences for patients. Successful evacuation of the ICU in the event of a disaster requires readiness, participation, effective communication, and leadership by special care providers.
