Abstract:

Background: One of the challenges of patients with irritable bowel syndrome is to reduce the quality of life and general health of patients. In the last decade, cognitive-behavioral therapy has been introduced as one of the effective treatments for many disorders. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of cognitive-behavioral therapy on the general health and quality of life of patients with irritable bowel syndrome. methods: The research is a semi-experimental pre-test and post-test with the control group. The statistical population included patients with irritable bowel syndrome who were in 2019. Sample size included 30 people from this community, who were selected by available sampling method and tested in two equal groups. The Global health questionnaire, Goldberg et al., and the quality of life of the world health organization were used. The experimental group received cognitive-behavioral therapy for 10 sessions of 90 minutes and the control group received no intervention. The data was analyzed using covariance analysis. Results: The results showed that cognitive-behavioral therapy was effective in increasing general health (P = 0. 001) and quality of life (P = 0. 026). In other words, the average of general health and quality of life scores in the experimental group was improved in comparison with the control group. Conclusion: It seems that by implementing cognitive-behavioral therapy, it is possible to improve the quality of life and general health in patients with irritable bowel syndrome.

Abstract:

Background: Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder is one of the most prevalent post traumatic events. The purpose of this study was to determine the efficacy of compassion therapy in improving the symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder. Methods: The study population consisted of war veterans with post-traumatic stress disorder referring to Ebnesina Hospital in Mashhad, Iran. 30 individuals of the population were selected by available method and randomly divided to experimental and control groups (15 people each). The experimental group received 8 compassion focused therapy and the control group did not receive any intervention. Dependent variables were measured in both pre-test and post-test. The Mississippi-Causal Stress Scale was used to measure the variable. Results: Data analysis using univariate analysis of covariance showed that by controlling for pre-test effects, compassion therapy had a significant effect on the improvement of symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder. Conclusion: The present study showed that group compassion therapy reduces symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder by reducing the negative emotions and improving interpersonal relationships.

Abstract:

Background: Eight years of imposed war between Iran and Iraq has caused a considerable number of soldiers and disabled veterans to experience symptoms of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). In the present study, the effect of group cognitive-behavioral therapy on reduction PTSD caused anxiety has been studied. Methods: This applied study was conducted in the form of a quasi-experimental study with a pre-test, post-test design and a control group at Sadr psychiatric hospital in Tehran during the years 2017-18. A total of 30 disabled veterans with PTSD were selected through an available sampling method, and divided into two groups: experimental and control group. The experimental group underwent cognitive-behavioural therapy for 14 sessions. The depression, anxiety and stress scales (DASS-21) was used for data collection. Data were analysed by analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) and Levene’ s test. Results: After modifying pre-test scores, the difference between experimental and control groups was significant. Based on the one-way ANCOVA carried out on the subjects’ total scores, there was a significant difference between experimental and control groups in the “ anxiety” variable (P < 0. 05) and (F=19. 372). Conclusion: This intervention showed that cognitive-behavioural therapy had reduced anxiety among disabled veterans with PTSD.

Abstract:

Background: Ginseng is one of the herbal additives that is used to improve the activity of athletes. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of 8 weeks of speed training with Ginseng supplement on the aerobic and anaerobic power of trained girls the students. Methods: In this semi-experimental study, 30 active girls were randomly selected and after completing the consent forms divided into three equal groups: training with supplement, training and control. Individuals of training with supplement and training groups perform speed training for eight weeks, three sessions per week. The training with supplement group consumed 250 milligrams of ginseng one hour before training. Aerobic and anaerobic power and speed performance were measured before and after the training program. The Shapiro-Wilk test was used to evaluate of normal distribution of data and the results were analyzed using ANOVA test and Tukey post-hoc test at P≤ 0. 05. Results: The results showed that aerobic power and speed performance in the training with supplement group significantly improved compared to the training and control groups, while the anaerobic power was not significantly different between the three groups. conclusion: Based on the findings of this study, it seems that Ginseng supplementation can improve aerobic power and speed performance.

Abstract:

Background: One of the problems encountered by active population, especially military personnel, is high incidence of musculoskeletal injuries leading to lose work time and high expenses. These injuries occur due to so many reasons, some of which are considered to be modifiable. The aim of the present study was to investigate correlation between some anthropometrical characteristics, core muscle endurance, and dynamic postural stability. Methods: Thirty commandoes (age of 29. 45 ± 4. 76) selected for this study and underwent assessments. Some anthropometrical indices (height, weight, BMI) have been measured. Then, McGill standardized testing battery (core muscle endurance tests) and dynamic postural stability test have been conducted. Data were analyzed using Pearson correlation test (P<. 05). Results: Pearson correlation test showed no significant relationship between anthropometrical characteristics, core muscle endurance, and dynamic postural stability index. But significant and negative correlation have been found between some anthropometrical features (weight, BMI) and core muscle endurance tests (P<. 05). Conclusion: The findings of the present study showed that there are significant correlation between some anthropometrical features (weight, BMI) and McGill tests (plank, side plank). It means that higher weight and BMI, leads to worse McGill test scores. Therefore, weight control-especially among military personnel-is recommended in order to reduce core muscle weakness and prevent low back pain which is a relatively common problem.

Abstract:

Background: The importance of knowledge is greater than traditional sources such as labor, land, and financial capital. The availability of unique knowledge and leverage of effective knowledge will lead to competitive advantages. As a result, this study aims to achieving a strategic knowledge management model at the 523 Army hospital. Methods: The present study was a part of a grounded theory study. Continuous comparative analysis was performed concurrently with data collection using MAXQDA version 2016, and targeted sampling was selected from experienced and maximal variables in the field. Results: The research participants included 17 people with a history of work in various hospital departments. The structure of knowledge management is also categorized in terms of: the phenomenon studied and the resulting outcomes, which, according to the paradigmatic model, identified the structure of knowledge management. Conclusion: The results of the research showed that knowledge management is the management of the process of knowledge leakage, knowledge arrangement and the birth of knowledge, which-during this process-results from the dissemination and application of knowledge. This structural definition of knowledge management emerged from the context and conditions in the health care system of the 523 Army hospital.
