Abstract

 the purpose of this study is to investigate the NATIONAL IDENTITY SYMBOLs of HIGH SCHOOL history and social science TEXTBOOKS. To do this, the content analysis method was employed and entire pictures and questions of history and social science TEXTBOOKS used in 1388-1389 were analyzed. The findings of this study indicated that NATIONAL IDENTITY SYMBOLs have not been focused properly neither, in educational organization which has essential role in students' identity access process nor in TEXTBOOKS which are the center of attention in schools. Although the long presence of students in school and present assignments in TEXTBOOKS are very good opportunities for managers and educational planners to be used in identity giving process, but it is not used properly. In a society where the non school books have no place in family basket, attractive content of TEXTBOOKS would be very effective to present facts like NATIONAL IDENTITY and to attract teenagers to study these books.
