Abstract

Purpose: The purpose of the research was to investigate the effectiveness of drug therapy on reducing Attention Deficit symptoms in children with ADHD. Materials and Methods: The research method was semiexperimental in the form of a pre-test-post-test design with a control group and was cross-sectional in terms of practical purpose and in terms of time. The statistical population studied in this research were 7-12-year-old boys suffering from Attention Deficit/hyperactivity disorder in Qom city, who had referred to learning disorders centers and psychiatric centers in the first semester of the academic year 2001-2001. In this study, children were randomly divided into 2 experimental and control groups. All samples were included in the study after the psychiatrist interviewed the child and his family and obtained written consent. The clinical interview data collection tool was based on the diagnostic criteria derived from DSM-5 and the children's morbid symptoms questionnaire was one of the common screening tools for psychiatric disorders. To analyze the data, multivariate covariance test was used to test the hypotheses and control the effect of the pre-test. Findings: The results showed that there is a significant difference between drug therapy in reducing the symptoms of Attention Deficit in children with ADHD and the control group, and with 95% confidence, Attention Deficit in children with ADHD in the experimental group has improved compared to the control group. Conclusion: Therefore, it can be said that therapists should choose and implement treatment models that are appropriate to the problems they face more scientifically and achieve better and more reliable results according to their specialty.
