Abstract

This paper tries to assess the business intelligence and its effect on port management in Ports and Maritime Administration of Guilan. First, different dimensions of business intelligence (include technical, organizational, business, and operational dimensions) and effective indicators of each dimension were assessed (40 indicators). Then, by analyzing the data collected via questioners, these dimensions and indicators are rated to determine the most effective dimensions and their indicators. Results of this study reveal the effectiveness of those indicators determined by the IT experts as well as experts in port affairs. Business intelligence reporting analyzes which are combined with key indicators and dashboards help the executive managers of the ports to achieve continued improvement, qualitative and on-time reports, and strategic decision-making.
