Abstract

This research investigated the impacts of GROUP COUNSELING intervention using Satir's communicative approach on the performance of DYSFUNCTIONAL COUPLES. 12 couples were selected and randomly assigned to treatment (6 couples) and control (6 couples) groups. Participants were self-referred to the counseling center of Faculty of Medical Sciences of Shahid Beheshti University as well as psychotherapy Ward of Ayatollah Taleghani Hospital. Family assessment device (FAD) was used for pre and post test assessment of couples' functioning. Comparing pretest with posttest scores showed that communicative approach intervention has enhanced couples' functioning in all dimensions including: problem solving, COMMUNICATION, roles, affective involvement, affective responsiveness, behavior control and general function.
