Abstract

The aim of this investigation is to relationship between CAREER and ORGANIZATIONAL COMMITMENT in the FACULTY MEMBERS of University Urmia. This is a descriptive correlation study. The sample was 70 FACULTY MEMBERS, which they selected by randomly according to faculty. Two questionnaires were used for data collection. the first one is questionnaire of CAREER based on Schein. And one questionnaire of ORGANIZATIONAL COMMITMENT based on Meyer and Allen. The questionnaire validity was determined based on viewpoints of experts in management and educational sciences. The reliability of questionnaire estimated through Cronbach Alpha coefficient a=0.894, a=0.933 for CAREER and ORGANIZATIONAL COMMITMENT. The data analyzed based on research hypothesis with using of MAN OVA and Regression analysis. The results showed that: There is a positive and significant relationship between technical/functional competence and general managerial competence with all factors ORGANIZATIONAL COMMITMENT. and Technical/functional competence, general managerial competence, autonomy/independence, pure challenges and life style is significant predictors ORGANIZATIONAL COMMITMENT. According to the study findings it is recommended that individuals with Technical / functional competence be employed in management positions. To select managers, individuals with general managerial competence are recommended to be employed.
