Abstract

The aim of this study was to investigate of the effect between spiritual intelligence and appreciation, and organizational citizenship behavior and counterproductive behavior, as well as the indirect relationship through organizational commitment and job engagement. The population included all staffs in Shahid Chamran University. One hundred ninety five staffs were selected through simple random sampling. Data collection instruments included spiritual intelligence Scale (King 2008), appreciation Scale (Mac Kalluk Tsang & Vamans, 2002), organizational citizenship behavior Scale (Smith, Oregon & veneer, 1988), Counterproductive Work Behavior Scale (Bennett, Vrabynsvn, 2000), Organizational commitment Scale (Maud, Steers & Porter, 1979), and job engagement Scale (Askafly & Vbakr, 2003). Data were analyzed through structural equation modeling (SEM). Structural equation modeling analysis supported the proposed model-data fit. The results showed the effect of spiritual intelligence and appreciation on job engagement, organizational commitment, organizational citizenship behavior, and counterproductive behavior, as well as the effect of organizational commitment and job engagement on organizational citizenship behavior and counterproductive behavior (p<0. 05), and the indirect effect of spiritual intelligence and appreciation (through organizational commitment and job engagement) on organizational citizenship behavior and counterproductive behavior (p<0. 05). Based on the results, values and behaviors such as forgiveness, charity and humility in the organization are expanded, which requires a model in the organization that everyone can follow. Therefore, managers should pay special attention to this issue.
