Title

THE RELATIONSHIP OF PERSONALITY TRAITS OF COLLEAGUES AND SUBORDINATES WITH THE QUALITY OF PERFORMANCE APPRAISAL OF SUPERVISORS AND MANAGERS

Abstract

 The purpose of this study was to investigate how COLLEAGUES and SUBORDINATES' personality affect supervisor and manager's appraisal. The method of research was correlation and the statistical population included all of the personnel of Esfahan Steel Company. Considering 360-degree feedback model, 82 employees were selected randomly as follows: 18 managers and supervisor, 29 COLLEAGUES and 35 SUBORDINATES. Assessment instruments consisted of the Five Big Personality Questionnaire (Costa & McCrae, 1992) and PERFORMANCE APPRAISAL Questionnaire (Nouri et al, 1385). The data was analyzed by Pearson`s correlation coefficient using SPSS16 software. The results showed that there was meaningful positive relationship between total score of PERFORMANCE APPRAISAL and neuroticism of COLLEAGUES (P£0.05), and also there was a meaningful negative relationship between total score of PERFORMANCE APPRAISAL and neuroticism of SUBORDINATES (P£0.01).
