MATHEMATICS STUDY SKILLS AND THE MOST IMPORTANT ANTICIPATORS OF STUDENTS ACADEMIC SUCCESS IN MATHEMATICS

Abstract

 This study investigated There Mathematics Study Skills in students' ACADEMIC SUCCESS in Mathematics courses. Research sample included 237 students majoring basic sciences from Shahid Bahonar University of Kerman who had chosen general mathematics 2. They were selected through stratified random sampling method. The questionnaire of Mathematics study skills including 37 queries and 6 micro-tests was presented to examinees. Moreover, the correlation coefficient of the questionnaire's scores and each of the micro-tests was compared with general mathematics I which was considered as the important factor of student ACADEMIC SUCCESS in mathematic. The using Multiple regression (Enter method) indicated the test-taking strategies, LEARNING STRATEGIES and motivation were the most important factors predicting the students ACADEMIC SUCCESS in mathematics. Also, during the present study, the anticipators of ACADEMIC SUCCESS were determined based on gender. The results indicated that motivation, LEARNING STRATEGIES and test-taking strategies in males and the test-taking strategies, LEARNING STRATEGIES and note-taking strategies in females are the best anticipators of ACADEMIC SUCCESS in mathematics
