Abstract

This study aimed to investigate and compare runaway and non-runaway girls' meNTAL HEALTH and EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE. Subjects were 30 RUNAWAY GIRLS and 30 non-runaway girls selected by accessible sampling. Information was gathered using Demographic Characteristics Questionnaire, General Health Questionnaire and Bar-On EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE Questionnaire. Results indicated significant difference between meNTAL HEALTH of runaway and Non-runaway girls, that is Nonrunaway girls had better meNTAL HEALTH. Results also indicated high depression in RUNAWAY GIRLS. Furthermore, results indicated that there was significant difference between EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE of runaway and non-runaway girls. Non-runaway girls had higher EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE. Other results showed higher scores of problem solving, independence, self actualization, realism, interpersonal relations, optimism, responsibility, sympathy, assertiveness and happiness for non-runaway girls.
