Abstract

The present study attempts to comparatively investigate the PARENTING STYLES of parents of both juvenile delinquent boys and normal teenage boys in Tabriz. This study is a kind of ex post facto research. The statistical population includes all juvenile delinquents in Tabriz prison, from among whom 60 subjects, with secondary education were selected by available sampling and also the same number of subjects from normal teens was selected by available sampling. The instrument in the research is based on Shifer works done in 1989 and “living environment questionnaire” developed by Naghashian in Shiraz. The findings revealed that there is a significant difference between PARENTING STYLES of delinquent and normal adolescents (p<0.05). Also, negligent parents have the most delinquent teens while careful parents have brought up the largest number of healthy, normal teens.
