COMPARATIVE STUDY OF FACTORS INFLUENCING TOURISTS’ BEHAVIORAL PATTERNS IN TOURISM MARKET PLANNING USING SWOT MODEL BETWEEN IRAN AND U.S

Abstract

 Tourists’ behavioral patterns, which were planned with the aim of presenting a scientific framework of interactions between variables or effective factors on customers’ behaviors, can help decision makers and market’s activists in predicting and controlling customers’ behaviors. The present study is aimed to study comparatively the factors influencing tourists’ behavioral patterns in tourism market planning between IRAN and the U.S. The method used is an analytic-descriptive one using the SWOT MODEL. Results showed that there were 18 inner strengths, 9 inner weaknesses, 15 external opportunities, and 11 external threats in the U.S. for which 14 effective solutions were achieved after studying their interactions. But there were 6 inner strengths, 12 inner weaknesses, 12 external opportunities, and 7 external threats in IRAN for which 13 effective solutions were achieved after studying their interactions. Analytic results of this research showed that strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats in these two countries are the same in some cases and different in some other cases. Therefore planning of behavioral patterns in market planning almost has common points, but in most cases it’s different with regard to policy-makings, culture, income, life style, etc. However, some of America’s MARKETING techniques and experiences proportionate to IRAN’s culture, potentials and market’s factors can be used.
