Abstract

 The purpose of the present research was to study the relationships between emotional intelligence and conflict management styles of managers who work in girl’s high schools of Isfahan city of Iran. To do this five dimensions of EI (Self-awareness, Self-regulation, Motivation, Empathy and Social skills) and five styles of conflict management (Competing, Accommodating, Compromising, Collaborating and Avoiding) have examined. Research method was descriptive- correlative. Statistical population included all managers and teachers of high schools of Isfahan whom from was chosen 40 managers and 300 teachers. Research instruments were two questionnaires of conflict management styles of Robbins and Emotional intelligence of Shrink. The collected data was analyzed via descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation, Independent t test, one way ANOVA and Scheffe. The results showed that: There were significant relations between EI and Five styles of conflict management. The relationship between Self-awareness and Competing & Accommodating styles wasn’t significant The relations between Self-awareness and Compromising, Collaborating and Avoiding styles was significant There was not significant relations between Self regulation and Competing & Accommodating styles at P£0.05 level but The relations between Self- regulation and Compromising, Collaborating and Avoiding styles was significant. The relationship between Motivation and Accommodating, Compromising and Collaborating styles was significant at P≤0.05 level, the relations between Competing, and avoiding styles wasn’t significant.Empathy was positively associated with Competing, Accommodating, Compromising, Collaborating and Avoiding styles. Social skills were positively associated with Competing and Compromising, Accommodating, Collaborating and Avoiding styles at P≤0.05 level.
