Abstract

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the importance of INFORMATION LITERACY skills development between STUDENTS with emphasis on considerations of implementation of INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY in the EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM of the country.Methodology: The research method is citation analysis. The research population includes the available documents (books, research projects, papers, the creditable sites) which is in the field of INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY in the EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM.Findings: The study has examined the role of information technology in the development of INFORMATION LITERACY. In this research, supporting documents of education in the field of information technology has been investigated and then the implementation of information technology in schools, and finally the major obstacles to the implementation of INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY in education system of the country has been considered.Conclusion: Review of the documents, statistics and previous research shows that due to the lack of infrastructure for providing INFORMATION LITERACY education in schools, INFORMATION LITERACY among Iranian STUDENTS is not in appropriate position and major work must be done to improve INFORMATION LITERACY in the schools.
