Abstract

LICHEN PLANUS is a common chronic mucocutaneous disease. It's association with LICHEN PLANUS and diabetes mellitus was first reported by Grinspan and collegues in 1964.The PREVALENCE of histologically approved oral LICHEN PLANUS has been reported in this article. A group or 101 individuals (test group) who were suffering from diabetes mellitus (type I, and II) were selected with control group consists of 103 (age and sex matched) non-diabetic cases. Mean age of the diabetic group was 46.3 years. Results showed that Diabetes mellitus as being more common in females than males (64.6% vs 35.6%).The PREVALENCE of oral LICHEN PLANUS was 4.95% and 1.94% in the experinental and control groups, respectively. There was no significant difference between two groups in this respect (P >0.0 5).
