Abstract

In the knowledge-based economy, the products and organizations exist and extinct based on knowledge and the most successful organizations are those that utilize these intangible assets better and faster. Studies have shown that unlike the efficiency reduction of traditional resources (such as money, land, machinery and etc.), knowledge is indeed the source of enhancement of business performance. From the strategic standpoint, knowledge and INTELLECTUAL CAPITAL are currently being applied to create and increase the organizational value; hence the success of an organization depends on its capacity to manage this scarce resource. Accordingly, this study will discuss the role of KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT and INTELLECTUAL CAPITAL in achievement of competitive advantage in SAIPA Corporation. The results of tests conducted using Pearson correlation test as well as regression analysis indicated the significant positive impact of KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT, INTELLECTUAL CAPITAL and their features on achievement of competitive advantage. Besides, the features of the two main study variables are ranked using Friedman test. Among these features, KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT, knowledge sharing and transfer along with knowledge acquisition and knowledge storage are selected as the most important sub-criteria, and among the INTELLECTUAL CAPITAL components; relational and human capital have more intensity compared with the other variables. As a final point, T-test indicated that organizational learning is the only variable which is not at desirable level amongst all the study variables.
