Abstract

Introduction: QUALITY OF LIFE is a multidimensional concept influenced by various physical and psychological factors. Moreover, JOB STRESS is one of the most important factors regarding reduced productivity in organizations. The present study was performed to determine QUALITY OF LIFE and its relationship with JOB STRESS among nursing staff of hospitals of sari, during year 2015.Methods: This descriptive-analytical study was performed on 940 individuals among nursing staff of hospitals of Sari, during year 2015. The samples were selected by the census sampling method. Data were gathered using particular questionnaires of QUALITY OF LIFE (SF-36) and HSE Health and Safety Executive (HSE) for JOB STRESS. Collected data were analyzed by Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), t-test, Pearson's correlation and Linear Regression using the SPSS software (V18).Results: The majority of samples with frequency of 62.2%, had a moderate QUALITY OF LIFE. Also, the Mean±Standard Deviation (SD) of JOB STRESS was 115.02±20.94 that represents a great amount of stress in NURSES. Also a significant correlation was observed between general aspects of physical health and mental health with all aspects of JOB STRESS except control and support of authorities (P<0.05). In addition, the relationships between gender, work, body mass index and QUALITY OF LIFE disorders, and also between history, marital status, working system and JOB STRESS were significant (P<0.05).Conclusions: The findings showed that increases in JOB STRESS have a negative effect on some aspects of QUALITY OF LIFE. Therefore, nursing managers by being aware of this issue, with proper communication and support can reduce the physical requirements and psychological pressure. Furthermore, managers should attempt to increase staff participation in decision-making in order to reduce JOB STRESS and thus increase job quality and improve overall QUALITY OF LIFE.
