Abstract

 Introduction: The phenomenon of CONFLICT in health system has always beenproblematic and has entailed the reduction in performance of the staff and the increase in health-care costs.CONFLICT is one of the inevitable aspects of daily lives of the NURSES, especially in EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT and it has different causes.Aim: This study has been conducted with the aim of identifying the extentof CONFLICT and factors influencing it among the NURSES in EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT in Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences.Method: In this descriptive study, 147 NURSES were selected by cluster sampling from the EMERGENCY DEPARTMENTs of six teaching hospitals affiliated with Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences. Data collection tools were researcher-made questionnaire that assessing the factors influencing CONFLICT in two dimensions of individual and INSTITUTIONAL FACTORS. It’s reliability via internal consistency was measured (α=0.74 and ICC=0.82). The data were analyzed statistically using SPSS V.16.Results: Out of 147 NURSES who participated in the study, (81%) were women and the average age of all the participants was 30.82. Coefficient variation showed that personal factors (73.64) had more influence on CONFLICT among NURSES in the EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT than INSTITUTIONAL FACTORS (22.62).Conclusion: These results would be increase awareness among nurse managers about factors causing CONFLICT and this cause awareness among emergency NURSES that they try to eliminate or reduce these factors. And by this promote nursing care quality.
