Abstract

 Background: The effect of whey protein consumption has shown on appetite control, muscle growth and lipid metabolism in healthy subjects, however, limited data on the effects of whey protein consumption on antioxidant capacity of body and metabolic risk factors in overweight and obese individuals are available. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of whey protein supplementation accompanied with RESISTANCE TRAINING on antioxidant capacity in young men.Methods: The sample the study of 30 young men with an average age of 20.1±16.1 and body mass index 26.88±1.01 kg/m2 were randomly divided into three groups. Groups in addition to the six-week RESISTANCE TRAINING Whey protein supplements or placebo were. Levels of GSH and TAC Before and after exercise training were measured. Data was analyzed by repeated measures analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Bonferroni post-hoc test.Results: Data analysis revealed six weeks RESISTANCE TRAINING with both Whey supplement and placebo was significant increase in the level of glutathione and glutathione. In addition, no significant differences in plasma total antioxidant capacity of three experimental groups were observed despite the increase.Conclusion: Whey supplementation for six weeks of RESISTANCE TRAINING combined with a significant increase in GSH levels and increased plasma antioxidant capacity insignificant young men were overweight.
