Title

Motivation, reasons and knowledge of learners in use of MOOC

Abstract

 Aim: One of the latest trends or methods in online education pertains to significant development of MOOCs. Thus, the purpose of the present research is to study the Motivation, Reasons, and Knowledge of learners in the use of MOOCs. Methods: This study was an applied research, which was carried through survey method. the Population of the present research includes all members of electronic discussion groups of Library, and Information Sciences of Mashhad and Iranian discussion group for Knowledge & Information Science. The collected data were analyzed Excel software using descriptive statistics. Results: The results of the survey of motivation, reasons and knowledge of learners in the use of MOOC showed that “ knowledge updating” has been known to be the most important motivational factor of learners. Averagely more than half of the learners used MOOC and most of the learners had no clear information about MOOC. Conclusion: Since most of the learners had no clear information about MOOC, it is recommended to establish training Workshop to introduce MOOC.
