Abstract

 Background and objectives The aim of this study was to identify the harms of religious education in order to identify the challenges of moral and religious education of Amin Police University students and to provide appropriate solutions from the perspective of experts. Methodology The research was qualitative and the method of data collection was field study, i. e., library and interview. In the first stage, the harms of religious education in three cultural, educational and religious-ideological axes were extracted from Islamic texts and analyzed by documentary content analysis method. Then, using interviews, strategies for getting out of the issues of religious moral education from the perspective of experts were examined. The statistical population (n = 15) was experts in the field of religious education at Amin Police University who were interviewed by purposive sampling method. The interviews were semi-structured and their validity was confirmed by several experts. Findings and results The study and analysis of the difficulties of students' religious education depends on recognizing the source of the harms that have occurred in religious education. This knowledge can help to plan them more precisely and avoid a superficial encounter with them. The results show that prejudices and cortical attitudes, misunderstandings, religious misunderstandings by individuals and also the inefficiency of religious moral education systems are the most important harms. Accordingly, promoting a rational approach, avoiding individual and collective prejudices and inclinations, can provide the ground for recovery from harm.
