Abstract

The development of a dual head gamma camera that can perform both routine SPECT scan and coincidence imaging was introduced in 1995 by ADAC Laboratones, Inc. as the Vertex/MCDTM camera. In August 1997, Lions Gate Hospital became the first Canadian hospital to upgrade an existing ADAC Vertex TM SPECT to coincidence imaging for Positron Emission Tomography. The versatility of these devices and their relatively low cost make positron imaging feasible in the community hospital setting.
