Abstract

This study attempts to assess the role of TENSION and GENDER in stressful events and in coping styles. The sample consists of 124 subjects, including 62 boys and 62 girls with high and low TENSION. Three measures were used: DASS to measure TENSION, Questionnaire of Daily Hassles of Adolescence, and the Coping Styles' Questionnaire. Analysis of results indicated that: a) there is a significant difference between the types of STRESSORS of the two groups with high and low TENSION. b) GENDER has no significant role in the type of STRESSORS. c) Coping styles of the high and low TENSION groups are different. d) Coping styles of the two sexes are different.
