Abstract

Introduction: Maternal HEALTH in PREGNANCY is one of the most crucial ways to maintain maternal and fetal HEALTH. Pioneer physicians of IRANIAN TRADITIONAL MEDICINE have focused their efforts on maintaining the individual and community HEALTH and have recommended simple HEALTH-promoting and functional instructions during PREGNANCY that in this study, these guidelines have been summarized and compared and contrasted with new articles and researches.Methods: In this review and library study, the main resource textbooks of traditional medicine and new studies have been evaluated and the findings of scientists of modern medicine were briefly compared with those of traditional medicine, and new researches on nutrition, sexual intercourse, bathing and mental and emotional status and LIFESTYLE during PREGNANCY were reviewed in Google Scholar, Pubmed, Magiran, SID, Irandoc, and Iranmedex databases.Results: In perspective of IRANIAN TRADITIONAL MEDICINE, to maintain HEALTHy life and prevention from the incidence of diseases, observing some principles is necessary which are titled as six principles of maintaining HEALTH that precise and practical recommendations are suggested about HEALTH of climate, food, balanced physical activity, sleeping and wakefulness, custody and disposal of waste materials from the body, and specially mental HEALTH.Conclusion: Regarding the meticulous attention of Iranian Tradition Medicine scholars to maternal HEALTHcare during PREGNANCY, perhaps now we can use the findings of physicians about PREGNANCY HEALTH issues and ideas and research findings related to this period and lay the foundation of researches on the statement and experiences of great scholars and practitioners such as Avicenna and Razi.
