Abstract

The purpose of the present research was studying the effectiveness of Beck's COGNITIVE THERAPY on increasing ADJUSTMENT level among the students of Islamic Azad University, Islamshahr branch. The population of the research consisted of all the student's of Islamshahr branch. The sample consisted of 300 students selected through cluster random sampling method. Then 30 students with higher scores were randomly assigned to experimental (15 students) and control groups (15 students). Research method was experimental, using (pretest-posttest with control group). COGNITIVE THERAPY on experimental group was used for 8 sessions. Five hypotheses on effictiveness of COGNITIVE THERAPY on increasing ADJUSTMENT dimensions (health, family, social, emotional and educational ADJUSTMENT) were to analyze the deta compraised differential means of experimental and control groups were compared. The finding indicate that COGNITIVE THERAPY was effective for increasing ADJUSTMENT to familiai, social, emotional and educational dimensions, but not in dimension of health.
