Abstract

The aim of the study was to investigate the relationships among college and social self efficacy beliefs, social support and MEANING IN LIFE. Two hundred and fifty university students (121 male and 129 female) were included in this study. All participants were asked to complete College Self-Efficacy Inventory, Scale of PERCEIVED SOCIAL SELF-EFFICACY, Purpose-In-Life Test, AND SOCIAL SUPPORT Appraisals Scale. In order to analyze the data, t test and stepwise multiple regression method were utilized. The findings of this study show that there were significant differences in some of subscales of social self-efficacy, MEANING IN LIFE, AND SOCIAL SUPPORT was significantly higher than boys. Furthermore, 37 percent of total variance of MEANING IN LIFE in female student could be estimated by college self efficacy beliefs, cooperation, literacyh of mother and peer support. Also, in male student, Regression analyses also revealed that 26 percent of total variance of criterion variable was predicted by college self efficacy and social self-efficacy.In conclusion, college self efficacy was the best predictor of MEANING IN LIFE in male and female student.
