Comparing Self-Efficacy and Life Satisfaction of Active and Inactive Individuals

Abstract

 Introduction: Physical activity, such as group sports activities and extracurricular activities at schools, could increase social well-being. The aim of this study was to compare Self-Efficacy and Life Satisfaction in active and inactive Students. Methods: The statistical population of the study consisted of first and second grade males from Euclid city high schools. Out of 230 Students (117 active and 113 disabled) with a mean age of 14. 88 ± 1. 27, stratified random sampling was used to select a statistical sample. Data were collected by Muris Self-Efficacy Dimensions Questionnaire (2001), Karwowski Self-Efficacy (2010), and Hyv Bnr Life Satisfaction (2001). Data was analyzed using the SPSS software version 22 with independent t-test and Mann-Whitney U test. Also a significant level of P ≤ 0. 05 was considered. Results: The findings of this study showed significant difference in educational Self-Efficacy (p = 0. 0001), social (P = 0. 007), emotional (P = 0. 001), and creative variables (P = 0. 033) and Life Satisfaction (P = 0. 0001) between active and inactive Students. Conclusions: According to the results of this research, it could be said that, considering the role and importance of sports activities, especially group sports activities, in social development of Students, education can be achieved by creating group sports activities at sports clubs under the supervision of education. This could allow growth of individuals and the growth of their personality traits.
