Abstract

Introduction: Various dimensions of puberty health play a vital role in girls’ health. This study was conducted to compare the effect of two methods of Combined training and lecturing in the context of puberty health on the knowledge of high school girls in Masjed Soleiman City, Iran. Methods: This was a quasi-experimental study. Regarding the sample size, 84 students studying in schools who had no health instructor were randomly selected for the study. Then the participants were randomly assigned to two 42-member groups and both groups filled the questionnaire out. At the next step, educational intervention was applied to the lecture group through lecturing and educational intervention was applied to the combined group through lecturing and playing video clips during 3 one-hour sessions. Both groups filled the questionnaire out again after one month and data were analyzed using statistical tests of Chi-square, paired and independent t tests. Results: The comparison between means before and after intervention in two groups showed a statistically significant difference between lecture and combined groups (P<0. 0001). Conclusion: The Combined training method indicated a significant priority to lecture method in promoting the knowledge level of girls about puberty health.
