THE ROLE OF COGNITIVE CONSONANCE IN CONNECTION BETWEEN ETHICAL LEADERSHIP AND TEACHERS’ JOB SATISFACTION

Abstract

 This research was administered with the purpose of studying the role of COGNITIVE CONSONANCE in the relationship between managers moralism and teachers’ JOB SATISFACTION.The research statistical population was the male and female teachers in some regions of educational and training administrations of Esfahan City. The research subjects, i.e., 532 teachers, were selected via convenience sampling. The research instruments consisted of: JOB SATISFACTION index (with four subscales named: work satisfaction, wage satisfaction, coworkers satisfaction and supervisor satisfaction), ETHICAL LEADERSHIP questionnaire and COGNITIVE CONSONANCE scale. The data gathered from the research questionnaires were analyzed, using Pearson’s correlation coefficient and hierarchical regression analysis. Te findings showed that COGNITIVE CONSONANCE has made a moderate relationship between ETHICAL LEADERSHIP and work satisfaction, wage satisfaction and coworkers satisfaction. Posterior analysis revealed that in low COGNITIVE CONSONANCE, there is a stronger relationship between ETHICAL LEADERSHIP and work satisfaction than high COGNITIVE CONSONANCE. But there is a stronger relationship between ETHICAL LEADERSHIP and wage satisfaction and coworkers satisfaction than low COGNITIVE CONSONANCE.
