Abstract

This article mainly focuses on IDEOLOGY and its vestiges throughout TRANSLATION, with particular emphasis on literary TRANSLATION. For this purpose, the researcher employed the critical discourse analysis (CDA) TRANSLATION model which was proposed by Farahzad (2008) to delve into the potential and probable impacts of different ideologies prevailing in separate socio-historical situations on the TRANSLATIONs of the American novel "Gone with the Wind".To carry out this analytical descriptive corpus-based research, three TRANSLATIONs of the novel done by three different translators under varying socio-historical conditions in Iran were examined. The results clearly showed that ideologies of the dominant groups as well as those of translators working under different sociohistorical conditions have visibly affected the TRANSLATION products and manifest signs of manipulations within both micro and macro levels could be observed
