Abstract

Tourism in 2019 accounts for ten percent of the world's gross domestic product, onetenth of the world's jobs, seven percent of total exports and four percent of total global investment. Therefore, considering the policies of the economy without increasing the importance of the foreign tourism industry, it was necessary to examine the factors of development of the tourism industry. In this study, the role of media diplomacy on the tourism industry is discussed. Therefore, the aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between media diplomacy and tourism industry, which was performed by cross-sectional descriptive method using a researcher-made questionnaire with Cronbach's alpha of 0. 9 and a sample of 250 people based on Cochran's formula among media and tourism professionals. In the descriptive evaluation, the respondents rated the prosperity of media diplomacy and the tourism industry as low in the country, and in the inferential results, regression was used regarding the relationship between these two variables, which in the first five indicators of the tourism industry: “ Soft power” have strong determinants and only the role of media diplomacy in identifying cities with a coefficient of determination of 0. 04 has been assessed as weak.
