Abstract: 

Controlling sedimentation in dam reservoir is one of the most important issues in exploration and increasing useful life of dams. Reservoirs act as traps for sediments and prevent their traveling in the river. The deposited sediments may decrease the capacity of reservoirs and their useful capacity. Even though flushing, due to the fact that the flow of energy is utilized and there is no need to employ an external source of energy, is the method which has been used extensively in many projects around the world, in this study various methods of removing sedimentations have been considered and discussed. In this paper Sefid-Rud data, the morphological changes and volumetric analysis investigated by GSTARS 3 numerical model, is used. Flushing process in Sefid-Rud dam reservoir simulated for short and long term. The volume of sediment removed and taken out from reservoir is measured and predicted by applying GSTARS 3 model.

Abstract: 

Education at all levels has an important role on sustainable development. The main aim of education is to make people wiser, more knowledgeable, better informed, ethical and more responsible toward their society. Chapter 36 of Agenda 21 entitled, "Promoting Education, Public Awareness and Training", provides an umbrella for all actions related to education for sustainable development. Education programs of the coming generations of engineers should be modified in order to fulfill the sustainable development goals in 21st Century. Amirkabir University of Technology (AUT) as one of the main technical universities in Iran has adopted several strategies in order to modify its engineering education and research programs. Based on the general goals of sustainable development, the new strategies of AUT are: 1) the start of Environmental Engineering program at graduate level, 2) addition of several new courses regarding environmental engineering and sustainable development and, 3) establishment of a new environmental research institute. As an example, the curriculum of a new course titled "green design" is prepared to change the traditional design concepts into the new concepts of green design. The main aim of this study is to review the role and the main tasks of engineers in the 21st century and to discuss the main Aunt’s strategies toward green university and sustainable development goals.

Abstract: 

The deep and correct education of rainfall-runoff modeling can be a reliable way to overcome on huge risk of flood disaster. In this paper after introducing liquid analog model as a new hydrological analog model in which is established on the basis of linear reservoir model, the circumstances of its scaling and construction in the laboratory are originally described, then its applications or laboratory simulation of Nash’s rainfall-runoff model, the effect of the watershed shape on the output hydrograph and the response of a watershed to the storm movement direction are extensively discussed. The obtained results show good accuracy of the model and its capability in simulation of the mentioned problems. Consequently, due to simple structure, visible property and convenient operation of liquid model, it can be considered as an educational instrument in hydrology.

Abstract: 

Exist of some combinations like silicium oxides and titanium oxides in bauxite are the most important factors on decreasing of refractor's quality in production. In this consider, recovery of those combinations in Shahid Nilchian bauxite with reversed flotation method has been mentioned; for this study, three more important factors are selected: collector, pH and depressant. Cationic collector (tallo alkaline amine) and tonic acid were used as a collector and depressant, respectively.With this chemical material the amount of titanium oxide was decreased to 50%of first amount, the module was increased to 20% of first amount. In this study pH was the most important effective factor in recovery these combinations.

Abstract: 

When scheduling for projects, the uncertainty associated with a project such as total cost and duration should be taken into consideration. This paper presents a method for project scheduling using fuzzy activity durations and taking into account the resource constraints during the scheduling process. The method investigates the most suitable fuzzy schedule considering the cost and duration criteria. The presented method generates all possible schedules considering normal availability for resources and calculates project duration and cost, accordingly. If none of the developed schedules satisfies both criteria, other scenarios will be examined by changing the allocation of resources to activities, which in turn will change the duration of the activities, and consequently, the cost and duration of the project. Different scenarios can be examined until both criteria are satisfied. Different schedules are compared based on their cost and duration and the importance of each criterion defined for the project through respective coefficients. An algorithm is developed for the proposed methodology. The algorithm and its functionality are explained in detail in this paper. The developed algorithm is implemented in a computer program using C++ programming language. The application of the algorithm is demonstrated through a case study of scheduling for an actual construction project.

Abstract: 

The studies made earlier have indicated that there is a significant correlation between the managers’ knowledge and their efficiency. At the present study, it has been assumed that there is a significant correlation between computer knowledge of managers and their efficiency. The sample and the statistical universe include all the qualified staff working at KSTP (36 people). The specialists endorsed our questionnaire for evaluating computer knowledge of the subjects (seven skills) and the reliability was calculated by the Kronbach Alpha Method (82%). Using the evaluation form of the Staff we assessed their efficiency. The results show that there is relationship between seven skills of the computer knowledge of the managers and experts and their efficiency.

Abstract: 

Education in traditional curricula is achieving through utilization of mechanical systems and consumption of fossil fuels while global society will confront to loss of current fuels until future decades and must rebuild their built- environment in based on renewable energies. Thus education of sustainable architecture that is established on three principles: saving in resource consumption, designing on life cycle and human design and each has own special strategies is significant.Education of sustainable architecture in Iran has proposed and taught at postgraduate level and the undergraduate level is only limited to introducing climatic design, passive ways, and heat loss controls and confronted social, economic, and cultural challenges. Students also need to know how is performance of elements of traditional architecture and not merely their physical shapes and how do use these reformed utilities with modern architecture and ways of conserving embodied energy, biodiversity, environmental resources and the like which are basis for sustainable architecture.According to this, solar architecture needs an appropriate education in which students should learn its fundaments and applying it in new architecture in terms of Vitruvius principles.
