Abstract:

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of parental group training using Satir’s family therapy approach on family emotional conditions. It was a semi-empirical study including pre and posttests with a control group. Statistical population included all female students in secondary schools, district 2 in Kerman in 2011-2012. 30 students were selected among population with cluster multi-stage random sampling method and they were placed randomly in two equal experimental (15 person) and control groups (15 person). In order to gather data, a questionnaire of family emotional condition was used, it was developed by Hilburn, 1964. At first, the pretest was implemented on both groups, then parents of the experimental group were trained during 8 sessions, in 90 minutes and no intervention was used for the control group, after training was finished, posttest was implemented on both groups. The obtained data using the SPSS-19 software was analyzed through covariance analysis. Results showed that there was a significant effect in parental group training using Satir’s family therapy approach on the improvement of family emotional condition (P<0.001).

Abstract:

The purpose of this study was to find the effect of music on the processing of emotional and neutral stimuli in students and it has been implemented via a posttest with control group design. To do so, first, 60 students with special entry requirements were selected in Payam-e-Nour University of Borujen. To ensure the absence of anxiety and depression in participants, the Cattell Anxiety Scale (Cattell, 1957) and Beck Depression Inventory (short form) (Beck, 1967) were conducted. Then, they were divided into three groups (two experimental and one control group in randomized substitution manner. Then an experimental group was exposed to music with a depressive music theme and the other group was exposed to music with the theme of threat and anxiety. At the end, all three groups accomplished the tasks of recall and judgment of frequency of emotional and neutral words in a computerized task. The data of this research were analyzed in repeated measure method by SPSS13 software and it was showed that the different themes of music have created a relative mood congruent bias (P=0.05) in processing of information.

Abstract:

The purpose of this study was to compare the function of attention in two groups of high risk drivers and normal ones. Using simple random sampling, 50 high risk male drivers were selected whose cars or licentiates have been taken by traffic staff in Tehran, 2011. Also, in control group, 50 male drivers were selected who had no violations in their records. Attention function of the two groups was measured by continuous performance test. The findings of the analysis of covariance illustrated that in function of attention there was a significant difference between high risk and normal drivers. In commission error, omission error and reaction time indexes high risk drivers had higher scores than normal drivers (P<0.01). While in correct detection normal drivers had higher scores than high risk drivers (P<0.01). The findings demonstrated that there were significant differences between high risk and normal drivers in the function of attention.

Abstract:

The purpose of the current research was to identify the role of perceived social support, attachment styles, identity styles, and personality traits in discriminating between addict and non-addict groups. In this causual-comparative study, the statistical population includes all male addicts (ranging in age from 15 to 25 years old) in Tooska’s rehabilitation camp in Tehran (Afsariye Zone). For sampling, 60 addict males and 60 non-addict males by available sampling were selected. Assessment instrument consisted of NEO-FFI (Costa & McCrae1992), ISI-6G (White et al, 1998), Adult’s attachment styles (Besharat, 1379), and perceives social support questionnaire (Zimmet et al, 1988). Data was analyzed by SPSS-18 software and discriminant analysis method was used. The results showed that these variables can predict the membership in addict and non-addict groups. The 12 predictive variables accounted for 61.7% & 60% of the variance between addict and non-addict groups. By comparing standard coefficients, the most 3 important components in discriminating between groups were respectively: normative identity style, perceived social support, and conscientiousness personality trait. In stepwise discriminatory model, 86.7% of participants were categorized in addict and non-addict groups correctly.

Abstract:

The purpose of this study study was to determine the relationship between attachment to God and resilience with meaning in life among students. Research statistical population in the present study included Mohaghegh Ardabili University students in undergraduate educational stages (in the 2010-2011 school year). The research sample consisted of 200 subjects who were selected from among students of Mohaghegh Ardabili University through cluster random sampling. To collect the data, attachment to God inventory (Beck & McDonald, 2006) and meaningful life scale (Battista & Almond, 1973) and resilience scale (Conner & Davidson, 2003) were used. The data was analyzed using Pearson correlation coefficient and multiple regression analyses. The results showed that attachment to Godwas positively related to meaningful life (r=0.48), and resilience(r=0.40). Also the results showed that meaningful life was positively related toresilience (r =0.39) (P<0.01). The results of multiple regressions showed that attachment to God and resilience meaningfully explained 25% of meaningful life, 37% of subscale Framework and 15% of subscale Satisfaction (P<0.01).

Abstract:

The purpose of this study was to clarify the contribution of meta-cognitive beliefs in explaining the symptoms of depression, anxiety and stress. Method of research was correlation, and the research population consisted of nurses who were employed by and working for Be’sat hospital in Hamadan. Therefore 120 nurses of this hospital were selected by the help of the method of Random sampling. Participants are surveyed using a short meta-cognitive questionnaire (MCQ-30) (Wells and Cartwright - Hutton, 2004) and a short form of depression, anxiety and stress scales (DASS-21), (Anthony et al, 1998). In order to predict the contribution of meta-cognitive beliefs, Multivariate regression analysis was applied using stepwise and using the software SPSS16 analysis. Results show that, among the subscales of meta-cognitive beliefs, variable of uncontrollability has a major part in explaining the symptoms of depression. Thereafter, it was needed to control the thoughts and Cognitive confidence which had the most contribution in predicting symptoms of depression. Concerning the anxiety and stress variables, uncontrollability had the most effective role in predicting the symptoms of anxiety and stress (P<0.01). Findings of this study show that meta cognitive beliefs, especially negative beliefs associated with the uncontrollable and the need to control thoughts, are the best predictor for depression, anxiety and stress. Also, the approaches of this study support the meta-cognitive model of depression and anxiety and its role in reducing symptoms of depression, anxiety and stress.

Abstract:

The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between the resilience with big five personality factors. Method of research was correlation and the statistical society in cludedall people who lived in Mobarakeh- Esfahan (1390) in which 57 male and 48 female were selected using convenience sampling. Assessment tools consisted of Conner- Davidson Resilience scale (CD-RISC), (2003) and Neo-Five Factor inventory (NEO-FFI, Costa & McCrae, 1990). The data was analyzed using Pearson’s correlation coefficient and multiple regression analysis (enter method). The results showed that resilience was negatively associated with neuroticism (P<0.01) and positively related to extraversion and conscientiousness (P<0.01). There was not a significant relationship between the resilience and openness and agreeableness. Also analysis of regression revealed that only neuroticism could predict the resilience in this group (P<0.001).
