Abstract: 

The present study examined the effect of internet on the educational and research data acquisition behavior of Shiraz University students. More specifically, it aimed to answer questions concerning data acquisition behavior of two groups of internet users and non-users and factors affecting it, the way students access information, examining and comparing the amount of internet and data banks usage taking into consideration their educational degree and gender, the purpose and usage problems, and comparing the users’ and non-users’ research activities. To this end, 500 undergraduate and graduate students were sampled from ten Shiraz University faculties using stratified sampling method. They replied to a thirty-item questionnaire. The results of the study showed that the number of users exceeded the number of non-users and that the users’ gender and educational degrees had no effect on the amount of internet usage. Further, it was revealed that there was a significantly meaningful difference between the number of research activities in two groups of users and non-users. The reason to use internet was stated to be the ease and speed of data retrieval. The problems in using internet were divided into two classes of individual and general pertaining to the information system.

Abstract: 

This study aimed at studying the relationship between students' learning styles and educational achievement in English courses in Shiraz high schools. This descriptive-survey study employed random stratified sampling method to draw a sample of 392 students (male=324 and female=149) from among all high school students of Shiraz in the school year 1387-1388 comprising a total of 27000. The sample of the study included first grade, second grade and third grade students majoring in mathematics and physics, humanities and nature science. To assess their learning styles, a questionnaire was administered to the students. In addition students' English achievement grades were used as indicators of their educational achievement. In order to analyze the data, a use was made of descriptive statistics along with t-test, ANOVA and regression analysis. The results of the study indicated that there was no significant relationship between students' learning styles and educational achievement. Nor was there any significant difference between female and male student's learning styles. However, it was revealed that there was a significant relationship between students' major and their learning styles.

Abstract: 

This study primarily aimed to investigate the relationship between personality traits and mental health of elementary school teachers with organizational climate in district one of Shiraz. The target sampling frame of this descriptive-correlational study was all teachers in the district (301 men and 1119 women). Random stratified sampling strategy was employed to select a sample of 210 women and 100 men with a reference to Morgan's table. The data of the study came from three questioners, that is, Eysenck personality questionnaire, Goldberg mental health questionnaire, Halpin and Crafts organizational climate questionnaire. In order to analyze the data, a use was made of Pearson product moment correlation, t-test and multiple regression. The results of the study revealed that there was no significant relationship between personality traits (extroversion and introversion) and neither organizational climate nor mental health components. It was also indicated that there was a significant relationship between mental health components and the organizational climate of schools. Additionally, a significant difference was found between male and female teachers in terms of personality traits.

Abstract: 

This research was conducted to explore Darab Islamic Azad University students' entrepreneurship facets. To this end this descriptive-correlational study drew a sample of 410 students from among all university students using stratified sampling strategy. The research instrument was a researcher-made likert-scale questionnaire which comprised 30 items tapping five traits of entrepreneurship, that is, need for achievement, internal locus of control, creativity, risking-taking and need for independence.  Content validity of the instrument was established by the means of authorities' opinion and item analysis. Its reliability was assessed through test-retest method and Cronbach's alpha. In order to analyze the data a use was made of ANOVA, t-test, Friedman test, and Pearson product moment correlation. The results of this research showed that the means of entrepreneurship on the whole and all its components except risk-taking were above average. The results also showed that there was a significant difference among educational groups in respect of all entrepreneurship components, except creativity. There was also significant difference between male and female students in terms of the need for achievement, the need for independence and entrepreneurship mentality whereas no significant difference was found between them concerning internal locus of control, creativity and risk-taking. Furthermore, it was revealed that there was a positive correlation between academic achievement and entrepreneurship components except creativity. And finally as far as the associate and bachelor students were concerned a significant difference was found between them with respect to the need for achievement, the need for independence and risk-taking.

Abstract: 

The aim of this study was to examine the impact of cooperative learning on the development of social skills of fifth-grade elementary school girls of Esfahan. The study was conducted drawing on a pre-test-post-test quasi-experimental design. The sampling frame of the study included all fifth grade elementary girl students of district five of Esfahan in the school year 1386-1387 which comprised a total of 2287 girl students. Out of this total a sample of 320 students was drawn. In order to collect data, a use was made of a social skill development instrument developed by Keramati (1382). The reliability of the instrument was assessed for the new usage using Cronbach's alpha (alpha=0.83). The data was analyzed using t-test and SPSS. The results of the study supported the main hypothesis. At the end, some recommendations were put forward on the basis of the findings.

Abstract: 

This study aimed at studying learning styles and problem-solving styles of university students. To this aim, 450 students were selected through stage cluster sampling strategy from among all student of Marvdasht Islamic Azad University. Felder-Solomon's learning styles and Heppner's problem-solving styles questionnaires were administered to the sample. The results of the study showed that there was a significant relationship between students' learning styles and their problem-solving styles. It was also indicated that there was a significant relationship between students' major and the patterns of use of both learning styles and problem-solving styles. Further it was revealed that there was a statistically significant difference between the pattern of use of problem-solving styles of male and female students.

Abstract: 

This study intended to study the impact of a curriculum specific to reading comprehension promotion on the reading comprehension of inaudible third grade elementary students. The study design was a semi-experimental pretest-post test with a control group. The sample of the study comprised 30 inaudible students selected from all inaudible students of Yasoj elementary schools. Sample students were randomly assigned to one control and one experimental group each including 15 students. In order to specify students' inaudibility a use was made of Ryon's intelligence test, Gestalt test and a checklist of inaudibility. Further, in order to appraise and compare the reading ability of the groups Isfahan's diagnostic test was employed as pretest and posttest. In general, the results of this study indicated that reading promotion curriculum augmented students' reading ability through teaching different reading skills. As a result it could reduce the number of errors committed by inaudible students. It was also revealed that interactive teaching of reading subskills facilitated learning reading, as retarded subskills impede the development of other subskills.

Abstract: 

The aim of this study was to examine the relationship between the managers' triad skills (technical, human and cognitive) and effectiveness of high schools in district one of Shiraz. The sampling frame of this correlational study comprised all the managers and teachers of regular high schools in district one of Shiraz in the school year 2008-2009.Using random stratified sampling strategy a sample of 150 managers and teachers was drawn. Two questionnaires (management and effectiveness skills) were used in this study. The data was analyzed using both descriptive and inferential (T-test and Pearson correlation) statistics. An analysis of the data using Mos.5 and SPSS software pointed to the following findings:-There was no significant relationship between the managers' effectiveness and the technical skill.-There was a positive significant relationship between the mangers' human skill and organizational effectiveness.-There was a positive significant relationship between the mangers' cognitive skill and the organizational effectiveness.-There was no significant difference between the managers' and teachers' understanding of the triad management skills.-Effectiveness directly affected the triad skills (technical, human and cognitive).
