Abstract: 

In recent years, the cinema as a social phenomenon has been more focused by researchers. The present research had a social analysis of the selected movies made by two Iranian movie makers -Beyzaie and Mehrjooie-to study the woman’s identity. To achieve this end, 17 long films out of 27 were selected based on cluster sampling. To analyze the films, content analysis was used and through repeated observations data were collected within inverse questionnaire format. Scenes and the whole of a film were considered as the units of analysis and based on them the woman’s identity as the main dependant variable was categorized and subcategorized to personal identity, dominant role identity, lifestyle, and the like, inspired from some sociologists’ theories specially Jenkins and Giddings; this made the analysis of the scenes easier. The results indicated that, in respect to presenting the woman’s social identity, there was a significant difference between the two directors in their art works.

Abstract: 

In this information technology age, methods of knowledge acquisition, preservation and implementation to do living affaires are of crucial importance. The present research sought to investigate the role of gender and parents’ educational level had on students of primary teaching major at IAU, Karaj Branch in respect to reading and study skills. The research questions were: 1) is there a difference between male and female students’ study skills? 2) is there a difference between male and female students’ reading skills? 3) Does the father’s education affect reading and study skills of students? 4) Does the mother’s education affect reading and study skills of students? Research method was of field study type. The population under study consisted 700 students in 1384-85 academic year. Sampling was random cluster method and the ultimate sample were 330 people. Considering the first research question, there was not a significant difference between female students’ average score and that of males in respect to reading and study skills, but reading accuracy was a bit higher in females while reading speed was higher in males than females. In respect to research questions 3 and 4, there was no relationship between parents’ education and their children’s reading and study skills.

Abstract: 

The purpose of the present study was to compare the psychological profile of freshman students with senior students of the faculty of humanities. The statistical population included all male and female junior and senior students studying in the first semester of 1389 academic year. Sample size was 304 students selected by cluster method. The research instrument was a Minnesota Multiphase Personality Inventory, including 71 questions. The results of T-test of independent groups indicated that two groups in two f and k validating scales were significantly different from each other, and the average of senior group was more than freshman students. That is, they had expressed much their bad feeling, and also intended to persist in confession to psychological problems. Analysis in clinical scales found that senior students significantly had a higher score in Hypochondriasis, depression, Psychopathic Deviation, Paranoia and Schizophrenia scales. Significant difference between hysteria and schizophrenia scales was not observed. The average of freshman group was higher than the other group in Hypomania.

Abstract: 

In the field of education, motivational factors are major indexes and effective variables in success and academic achievement. The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between achievement motivation and variables of social acceptance, family income, education costs, tuition and age in all students of Islamic Azad University, Abhar Branch, enrolled in 1387-88 academic year. Data were collected through Hermence’s Achievement Motivation Questionnaire, Crown & Marlow’s Social Acceptance Questionnaire and the demographic form. Correlation results showed significant negative relationship between achievement motivation, family income, education costs, and age; significant positive relationship was also observed between achievement motivation and tuition. Regression analysis revealed that social acceptance, family income, education costs, and age could explain 37% of variance in achievement motivation.

Abstract: 

The present study sought to investigate the effect of Persian satellite programs on the young’s social behavior in three aspects of lifestyle, aggression, and social participation. In this research, the degree and manner of using Persian satellite programs by the young was supposed to be effective in their social behavior. The hypotheses were tested through survey method. The statistical population included the young aged between 19 to 25, in Karaj city. The sample, consisting 384 people, was selected through cluster method and the data were gathered implementing questionnaire. The results showed that watching Persian satellite programs had different effects on different aspects of social behavior, i.e. it had no effects on the young’s lifestyle while it had effects on their tendency towards fashion and friendship patterns. The second hypothesis was approved indicating the effect of these programs on the young’s aggression. Regarding the third hypothesis, the results indicated that the degree of watching satellite programs did not have effects on the respondents’ social participation while the manner of watching and using these programs increased their social participation. In this research, the relationship between variables of age, gender, marital status, educational level and degree and manner of using Persian satellite programs were analyzed considering different aspects of the young’s social behavior.

Abstract: 

Within the recent years, corrective feedback has had a crucial role in language acquisition and has become a highly controversial issue. In the field of First Language Acquisition (FLA), scholars express strong reservations concerning the effect that negative evidence has on FLA, if there is any at all. In the field of Second Language Acquisition (SLA), however, there appears to be a growing commonality among the majority of researchers concerning the significance of the role played by negative evidence in the process of SLA. The present paper focuses mainly on the role played by corrective feedback in SLA. While corrective feedback clearly relates to both oral and written discourse, the focus of this discussion will center on oral production, since the majority of research has largely focused on this domain. The next issue the discussion follows would be the meaning of corrective feedback, and the different theoretical orientations towards its role in SLA. Empirical studies that explore the impact corrective feedback has on SLA is to be reviewed, followed by a review of some of the key issues in the research area of corrective feedback and its role in SLA.

Abstract: 

The current research was intended to study the students’ identity and the factors affecting it. This study was derived from another study with the same title. The dependant variable was national identity and the independent variable ones were: maintaining political borders, interest in Persian language, awareness of Iranian history, interest in cultural heritage, awareness of national symbols, familiarity with national scholars, believing in Islam, believing in national customs, interest in national arts, social bias, social awareness, social interactions, field of education, and social participation. To obtain the required information, a designed questionnaire was implemented. The participants included all secondary students from Tehran’s 7th district randomly sampled. The questionnaire was distributed to the students. The results were: Such variables as interest in Persian language, awareness of Iranian history, interest in national arts, familiarity with national scholars, believing in Islam, awareness of national symbols, believing in national customs, and social participation were affecting students’ identity’ while social interaction, interest in cultural heritage, and maintaining political borders were not that effective.

Abstract: 

The present study had a psychological examination on one of the social problems and its causes within current societies: husbands’ violence against wives. The statistical population included the employed women of district 6 of Tehran; and 150 of them who were employed in the private sector were considered as the ultimate sample. To collect data, questionnaire was used and data were analyzed using SPSS in the descriptive and inferential domains. The results of factor analysis revealed: kmo = 0.827; chi-square = 1563.04 and the significance level of 99%. In this technique, 21 variables were put in 8 categories out of which 69% of the variance was explained. Based on the results, the first category (past family experience) explained 16.30 percent of the total variance of husbands’ violence against wives. The second category (husbands’ and wives’ personal deviations) explained 10.67% of the variance. The third category (husbands’ or wives’ feeling of economics welfare) explained 18.46 percent; the fourth category (class and cultural differences) explained 6.32 percent; the fifth category (age and intellectual differences) explained 6.20 percent and the sixth category (personal failure of the husband) explained 10.83 percent of the total variance.
