To investigate the aspects of relationship between religious orientation &
mental health, mental disorders, self-esteem, anxiety and also to assess the
ability of diagnose and clarify of religious orientation scales, a series of
research in two-year program were performed and gathered the results. 316
subjects in 7 groups in both genders were participated in these research in
which just one group consists of women of Hoze Elmieh. To investigate the
mentioned aspects, The General Health Question aire(Goldberg, 1978),The
Anxiaty(state-trait) Inventory(Spielberger, 1983), The Self Esteem
Measurement(Coopersmith, 1967),The SCL90Scale(Deragotis, Lipman and
Covi, 1973), The Religious Coping Question aire(Pargament, 1990), The
Religious Orientation Scle(BahramiEhsan,1381) were used. The results
showed that religious orientation has relatignship with increase in mental
health and the decrease of mental disorders and it is able to predict positively
religious coping. There is a positive relationship between Selfesteem and
religious orientation. In addition the current results showed the Religious
Orientation Scale is able to discriminate groups with different religious
orientation and this object can be used as an evidence of the discrimination
validityof the scale.
