Abstract:

Introduction: Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is the most important cause of anovulation in general population and infertile women. Emphasizing the importance of polycystic ovary syndrome as one of the causes of infertility and according to association between this syndrome with hormonal and metabolic disorders, this study was performed with aim to evaluate the effect of 12 weeks aerobic training on body composition, aerobic power and some women-hormones in polycystic ovary syndrome infertile women. Methods: This randomized clinical trial study was performed on 20 polycystic ovary syndrome infertile women referring to obstetrics clinic of Bojnurd in 2015. They were randomly categorized into two groups of experimental and control (n=10 in each group). The trained group performed 12 weeks 3 days/week aerobic training with severity of 40-65 maximum heart rate reserve. Pre and post of aerobic training, sex hormones levels and body composition were collected. Data was analyzed by SPSS software (version 18) and t-test in dependent and independent groups was used for comparison of means within and between groups, respectively. PResults: Weight and LH levels reduced and Vo2max significantly increased at the end of training period (P=0.001). Concentrations of TSH, FSH and prolactin did not changed at the end of training (P>0.05). Moreover, a significant difference was observed in the levels of weight, BMI, LH and Vo2max between two groups after at the end of training period (P<0.05).Conclusion: According to reduced weight and LH and increased Vo2max by doing aerobics training, it can be used as a non-pharmaceutical alternative to improve PCOS patients.

Abstract:

Introduction: Since ancient times, couples have been trying to choose the sex of offspring. Although some of these methods derived from superstitious beliefs and had no scientific basis, but there is now scientific documented evidence that demonstrates the impact of some of them on sex selection. Sex selection methods classified into two general categories, preconception methods (technological and natural) and post conception methods. This study was performed with aim to determine the natural effective sex selection methods and the related ethical considerations. Methods: In this narrative review study, a comprehensive review of databases including Pubmed, Science Direct, Google Scholar and SID from 1940 to 2015 was conducted and only Persian and English articles were evaluated. Keywords included Sex Preselection, Sex Ratio and Sex Selection. Results: The findings of the present study show that natural sex selection methods are based on timing of insemination, vaginal PH and douching, position and penetration, orgasm, frequency of intercourse and abstinence and maternal diet. Although there are some other influencing factors. Bioethicists, religions, and professional medical organizations’ opinions about sex selection are very different. Conclusion: The natural sex Preselection methods as inexpensive and simple approach can influence the sex of the fetus. Integrating these methods can certainly raise the probability of conceiving babies of the desired sex. Nevertheless, large randomized clinical trials could provide more definitive evidence.

Abstract:

Introduction: The role of peritoneal membrane in human has been known in transport of fluids and electrolytes, host defense and reduce friction between bowels and other organs for a long time. This serosal layer consists of a single layer of mesothelial cells resting on basement membrane and submesothelial connective tissue with cell populations and structural proteins. In last decades, human pelvic peritoneum has been studied by using scanning electron microscopy in many conditions to diagnose the diseases especially in endometriosis, chronic pelvic pain and etc. In this study, microstructural changes caused by the surgeon due to unintentionally technical problems in tissue dissections is reported. This article presents unintentionally ultrastructural changes on the pelvic peritoneum during laparoscopic surgery by instruments that can lead to errors in diagnosis and understanding of the disease process for pathologistCase presentation: Two pieces of involved peritoneal tissues with size of 7×7 mm and two pieces of apparently normal peritoneum were evaluated by scanning electron microscopy in a patient with chronic pelvic pain and suspected to endometriosis. Conclusion: According to inadvertent damage of laparoscopic instruments to evaluate fine tissues such as peritoneum, this very simple but important tip should be noted during laparoscopic peritoneal tissue dissections for diagnostic and ultrastructural investigations.
