Abstract:

Background: Addiction is a disorder related to the nervous system which causes dysfunction and changes in brain system and reward pathway. Transcranial direct current stimulation and mindfulness are the methods that recruited for managing craving in people with SUD. The efficacy of either of these methods with respect to their special characteristics had been shown separately but is the combination of these two methodes effective, too? Although some studies suggested that combination of Mindfulness training and tDCS is effective in non clinical population, but it is still unclear that this method can or can not be effective in clinical populatuin. Aims: Evaluating effect of combination of mindfulness and transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) on craving in people with substance abuse disorder. Method: current study is a Quasi-experimental research whithout control group and with pre and post evaluation. Ten people with substance abuse disorder were chosen through convenience sampling. They received 5 sessions of mindfulness training combined with transcranial direct current stimulation. Before and after intervention, craving was assessed via Visual Analogue Scale (VAS). Results: Our findings have shown that combination of mindfulness training and brain stimulation resulted in significant decrease in scores of craving (p<0/001). Conclusions: It can be concluded that the combination of tDCS and Mindfulness can reduce craving in people with substance abuse disorder.

Abstract:

Background: Martin M Seligman has developed a multi-dimensional model of Flourishing, PERMA. This model combines positive emotion (hedonic) and positive performance (eudiamonic) dimensions. Research has shown a positive relation between Flourishing and happiness, productivity, resiliency, life satisfaction, and a negative relation with death thoughts, physical illness, and stress experiment. The Workplace Flourishing Questionnaire (PERMA) is developed by Kern and was administered in Australia, Japan, Hong Kong, and the United States and its psychometric properties were reported. Although flourishing in general and in the workplace is significant, it’ s not mentioned in Iran. Aims: The purpose of this study was to investigate the psychometric properties of the PERMA flourishing Questionnaire at work for teachers in Iran. Method: current research is a descriptive study. 394 teachers have responded to the translated version of the online flourishing questionnaire. Results: The factor structure of the flourishing scale has been investigated by confirmatory factor analysis. And the model fit indices, indicate that the model fits well with the data. Chi-square (χ 2) with the value of 2339/17 and degree of freedom 80, softened chisquare (χ 2/df= 2/989), comparisons fit index (CFI= 0/98), goodness of fit index (0/95 GFI= goodness of fit index (AGFI= 0/96) and second root mean squared error approximations (RMSEA= 0/065) were all at the desired level indicating goodness of fit with the conceptual model. Conclusions: Based on the findings of this study, it can be concluded that the model of flourishing PERMA. Was applied in different samples including Iranian teachers group.

Abstract:

Background: The focus of reality therapy interventions in working with couples, is to raise couple’ s awareness of their needs and to help them meet each other’ s needs. Having a valid instrument is needed to measure these basic needs based on their manifestations in terms of close relationship of the couples. Aims: The aim of the present study was to develop and examine psychometric properties of the couple’ s basic needs assessment scale (CBNAS). Method: The present study was correlational study. 1049 married individuals (504 women, 545 men) were selected by two-stage cluster sampling. The convergent validity was assessed by finding a correlation between the questionnaire of basic needs (Salari & Sahebi, 1383) and CBNAS. Results: the first half of the data was devoted to test the exploratory factor analysis and the second half of the data was devoted to test the confirmatory factor analysis. The exploratory factor analysis revealed the CBNAS comprises of five dimensions (security, love, power, fun, & freedom) and the result of confirmatory factor analysis confirmed the five dimensions. There was a strong correlation between the CBNAS and the questionnaire of basic needs, which supported the convergent validity for the the couple’ s basic needs assessment scale (p<0/01, p<0/05). The reliability of the CBNAS demonstrated a good internal consistency with Cronbach's alpha value of 0/90 and Test-retest value of 0/91. Conclusions: the CBNAS could be used as a reliable and valid scale in couple therapy among Iranian couples.

Abstract:

Background: Mindfulness which comes from eastern traditions, especially Buddhism, is defined by conscious attention to current moment and internal/external personal experiences. Researches showed that mindfulness has relationships with the attachment styles but does ego strength can mediate the relationship between attachment styles and mindfulness? Aims: The present study was performed to examine the mediating role of ego strength on the relationship between attachment styles and mindfulness in the University of Tehran and Medical University of Tehran students. Method: current study is a descriptive-correlational research Two hundred and sixty eight students (231 make, 36 female) participated in the study. All the students were asked to complete the Adult Attachment Inventory (Besharat, 1392), Ego Strength Scale (Besharat, 1395) and Mindfulness Awareness Attention Scale (Ghasemipour and Ghorbani, 2008). Results: Analysis of data involves descriptive and inferential statistics including frequency, percentage, mean standard deviation, Pearson’ s correlation coefficient and path analysis. The results demonstrated that secure attachment had a significant positive association with mindfulness (r=0/50؛ p<0/01), insecure attachment (avoidance/ambivalence) had a significant negative association with mindfulness )r=-0/28 و r=0/43؛ p<0/01 ( and ego strength had a significant positive association with mindfulness (r=0/34؛ p<0/01). Secure attachment had a significant positive association with ego strength (r=0/24؛ p<0/01). Insecure attachment had negative correlation with ego strength (r=-0/34؛ p<0/01). Conclusions: The mediating role of ego strength on the relationship between attachment styles and mindfulness had been confirmed. Based on the results the higher attachment style score, the higher mindfulness and ego strength scores. And with higher ego strength score, mindfulness was higher too. According to the results of the present study, there is not a linear association on the relationship between attachment and mindfulness. Ego strength plays a mediating role on the relationship between them.
